After delving into GoogleEarth , my parking spot to work exit should equal 32.7 . SG was reading 32.1 -so I adjusted the speed/distance to -2%.That seemed to even it all up as far as SG vs oem odometer. At least *I* feel better about it :)
    unadjusted a.m. - 52.5/32.1
    adjusted p.m. - 56.9/32.8
    Todays tank 53.7/65.0
    Tank overall 53.5/66.4

Hmmm... MnFocus your comment above made me decide to try that 'path' thingie on GoogleEarth, since my 96 Ranger reads 10.5 miles to work and the 98 Ranger reads 11.4 or 11.5 or so. Mapquest listed 11.52 miles following pretty close to my usual route... Well GoogleEarth shows 11.34 miles! Lions and Tigers and Bears OH MY!! :eek:Does this mean I should recalc the offset in the 96 tho odo and scangauge are usually darn close? and odo and scangauge are usually good in the 98 too??!! :confused:ARGH.

I also did the check on the 1 minute = 1 mile and yes that verified (to me anyway) that the SG was indeed reading off .

Took a quick jaunt out to lunch to meet an old friend -- that lost me some mileage!!

80F on the way out, 85F on the way back in, no wind, sunny:

    1. 43.2mpg for 4.8mi (Work to Bunny's Bar & Grill)
    2. 40.3mpg for 5.1mi (Bunny's back to work)
Lost a tenth to 46.1mpg over 539mi (540.4mi ODO) with 4.3g left and the gauge at one needle width below 1/4 tank.

Marc, your picture last night of the 82.9 mpg tank inspired me to work really hard today and it payed off.

I also set a new PR for the segment from the wife's work to my work. I kind of blew the old record out of the water. The old record for the 9.6 mile segment was 91.1 and the new record is 100 :woot:.

    Today's numbers:
    1) 76.3-5.8
    2) 100-9.6(New PR:woot: )
    3) 77.6-9.7
    4) 93.9-12.7
    5) 119-7.0
Average for today was 91.1. Looks like I'll have to work a little harder to beat that daily number Marc.:D

I forgot to mention that I still have 6 pips left so it looks like if I can get to a minimum of 84.1 mpg and if I can get the full 11.9 gallons out of the bladder I'll have a 1K tank.

    SWEET!! :woot: for Larry!!!

I didn't do nearly so well on this tank. I'm still guessing last tank had some sort of air bubble in it so I shook the car a bit when I got to the first click off. Sure enough, I put in a good bit more than SG predicted -- roughly as much as it UNDER predicted last tank.

85F, no wind, sunny with plenty of traffic wasting as much as possible:

    1. 47.4mpg for 21.6mi (Work to Costco)
    2. 40.7mpg for 1.7mi (Costco to home)
SG reported I should put in 12.1g but it was really 12.927. It thought I had 46.2mpg but actual was 43.467mpg over 561mi (561.9mi ODO). :p

Yuck!!! Well, I think what SG reported was probably closer to the truth, but I put 'em in the way I see 'em from the gas receipts. On the other hand, I've got a good handle on my new work commute so I think that one will continue trending up. I just hope this trip down to Iowa doesn't kill the current tank for me!

As Andrew reminded, me: "Going to a friend's wedding: Priceless. There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's CleanMPG." :D ;)

And I forgot to mention my lmpg is up another tenth!!! Whoo-hoo!!! :D

Nice 91 Larry! Your efforts are DEFINITELY helping my tank. Speaking of which, somebody cue the dueling banjos............

Took the kiddo to a playscape north of downtown, a trip which usually is done around 100 (200 foot decline helps). Rolled in at 114. :) Throw in the trip back plus a few errands, and I've got another 90+ day. I tell ya, she is just purring.

I suspect I may be a few drops shy of 11.9 gallons in this tank, and may need 86 or so to hit 1000 miles. OK then, let's get 'er up to 86. :)

Here's to more 90s in our future........................

Oh sure, play the moving target game! Seriously though, nice job! At my last fill when I got home from HF '07, I stuffed the bladder clear full and it was in the mid 80's so I think I should have gotten the full 11.9 plus hopefully another .5 or so in the filler. I don't know if I will drive far enough tomorrow to better your 84.1 but, the majority of my miles will be very rural. On Monday however, I'll see your 84.1 and raise you another .9.:D

Careful, you're on the verge of comparing apples to oranges.:) You aren't doing so bad yourself. When did you say you were getting that new Prius?:D If you are able to make the meeting in Oak Creek this month, I have something for you to keep in mind: I went to my first meeting almost exactly one year prior to this upcoming one and almost exactly 9 months later I got my Prius. Hmm, 9 months, interesting.:D

I ended the week with 62.2mpg @ 300mi. Going to the grocery store for that pizza and beer always does the trick. ;) Of course my FE will be lower on Monday after I've gained five pounds but we can worry about that when we get there.

    I'm so glad it's Friday...

Oh man oh man oh man... you guys with the 90's mpg... just WOW :woot:

Well update to the above post prompted by MnFocus... went and did a careful path thingie in GoogleEarth and it comes out to.... (drumroll please...) 11.46 miles!!
Which means the 98 is just about right on with its odometer and more importantly the 96 5-speed is OFF BY ONE MILE (9.14%!) (for the run to work... which explains why I couldn't seem to pull closer to Wayne numbers (besides the obvious that he's Wayne and I'm not..) So that means that I will need to adjust my mileage logs which oh darn means that my actual mpg is GOING TO GO UP! :D Only thing I can think of is that maybe the tires on the 96 are bigger than orig equip, which would have it going farther than indicated.

Would I be correct that I should adjust the ScanGauge speed offset when I next fill so as to not screw up the numbers on this particular tank? I see that I can adjust the logs no problem, but don't want to mix up the current tank. But if I did do the setting now, I would still use the odometer reading times the offset to actual miles divided by gallons filled anyway...?? but at least then my trip mileage and mpg would be corrected right now.
Would I be correct that I would increase the speed to bring the distance into line?

Oh and the trip home was 37.9, and back to work now was 42.8 mpg (uncorrected numbers yet), with the tank STILL CLIMBING... 37.2 mpg for 266 miles, showing 479 to go :D

    Thanks, Larry. I try!

The wife is trying to get me to just go lease a Prius in a couple of months (after we finally get that dang debt from the wedding paid off), but I really don't want to lease. She thinks I should drive it "for a while to see if you like it, then you can buy it after the lease if you want to." I have to say I was surprised that KBB for my car with 90K on it in good condition is actually a decent $4K -- I figured it would be less! Too bad it isn't worth oh... say... exactly what a new Prius costs? :p

I'm DEFINITELY going to be there. It is on the calendar and I'm treating it like my consolation prize for not being able to make it to HybridFest this year. :D

9mo? Yikes! Where do I get that much money in that timeframe?! Think man, think!!! *pounds head on wall* ;)

I hadn't thought of it quite like that. I was actually thinking of something else that takes about 9 months. Don't drink the water while you're there.:D
