oops. sorry. I think that was a typo - 7 is right above 4 on the number pad. Either that or a copy-paste and forgot to change the number. Either way, I fixed it and the ranking as well.

I just ran the numbers and I may not fill again this quarter. Groar - you might take the lead if you post a good tank. All it needs is a 75.6 / 1180 tank. ;)

The odds are good that I will not fill this month either.

For once I got a chance...

During last month I worked a lot from home or from customer's, in Paris or in Toulouse. Most trips were small or during high traffic hours. Also last week I got to go to Rennes as last year. Surprise Monday morning several planes were canceled because kerosene problems, so I got my car as last year. I decided to attempt a one tank highway trip. I filled-up before and after the trip to Rennes :
    • 586.9mi @ 66.08mpg which is my worse 2011 daily commute tank :-( @ the OK side I drove half than usual.
    • 882.7mi @ 61.84mpg which is 18% better than my 2010 Rennes trip (52.30mpg) and 65% better than my old highway rating (37.3mpg) :) Also I nearly beat my best highway trip (66.88mpg during 2010 summer) (*).
Sadly I also fail at my personal challenge : keeping my mpg higher than Basjoos' one.

I work in Paris this week and I'll have to do work trips next week. I'm tempted to fill-up at the end of the month to start next challenge from fresh, even if I know I will have to do other work trips during July's first half.

    Have fun,

    Denis.

(*) I should have beat it. Since last year I improved the aero and removed weight (I removed the rear seat for the travel). But Thursday morning in Rennes I found my aero mods covered with commercial posters. As the glue wasn't dry I easily removed them without impact, but I'll have to paint some chloroplast again. Worst was Friday morning as I found the plastic back, trunk cover and miniback destroyed  certainly some fubar drunk student... I had to remove these three mods before the trip back and I'll have to rebuild them from scratch, certainly not before my holidays in July/August :(

For handicap of hybrid and E10, do I reduce the EPA number in the profile by 18% ?

    This dose not seem right.

groar - why do people do things like that?

Kilo - nice tank! Yes, you should reduce your rating my 18%. We ran the statistics a few challenges ago and settled on 15% for hybrids to bring it up to equal footing. Hybrids already do many of the things we're doing in standard cars, so there's less extra for the hypermiler to squeeze out of it.

Example: Looking at the lifetime logs for my car and Sean's insight.
    62.7 mpg / 31 challenge epa = 202% for my civic
    91.9 / 44 epa = 208% for Sean's insight

Add in the fact that he learned hypermiling on the Elantra before acquiring the INsight while my Civic's log includes all my learning time. We're just about even after that.

Andrew, there may possibly be a missing factor for Sean though. If I'm not mistaken, it seems Sean didn't reset the lmpg on his Insight when he got it and it was a bit on the low side when he got it home? At any rate, your numbers are quite stellar in any book.:flag:

Larry, this is using the lifetime reported here at CMPG, which is only the tanks Sean has driven. Basically, as if he had reset the onboard lifetime when he bought it.

Another comparison, using each of our best tanks.
    Me: 82.4 mpg / 31 epa = 266%
    Sean: 115.6 mpg / 44 adj epa = 263%

Just to be clear, I did reset the LMPG in the car shortly after I got it.

OK, I adjusted the EPA to reflect the handicaps. New Adjusted EPA is 25.42 city 30.34 Hyw.
Got a nice bump in the standings. :)

Last fill is in. I managed to improve my average a little bit with it. :)

Sadly, it wasn't enough to move me up any positions. Still behind by less than half of one percent!!
