ooops, I did it again... I'm caught in an endless spiral... I beat all my records with 53.69 mpg (EPA+52.95%) and 760.8 mi. My status for my 1 month history is at +51.79% I realized lately that my cost per 100km is lower than the one of a Prius II at EPA rating : 4.43 €/100km vs 4.89 €/100km ie -9% (here gasoline is 12.5% more expensive than diesel) but I generated 116.5 g/km of CO2 ie +12%. Usually the idiot light switches on & off regularly during 20 mi before staying on. This time it switched on when I started the car this morning and didn't switched off during all the commute. Since 10 days my daily commutes are shorter (9 mi. instead of 20) and as I managed more often the baby during the morning, I heated more the car. This afternoon I had to travel 30 mi to go to a meeting so I didn't want to be out of fuel. For all these reasons I filled up with 14.17 gallons at noon. On the paper the tank is 15.85 gallons so in theory I would have been able to drive another 90 mi... Next time I'll apply the Andrew's "wait... wait... wait..." also when the idiot light switches on Denis.
65.3 today and 66.9 yesterday in this mild weather. That bumped the tank up to 61.8. Hopefully this mild weather will last through the end of February, but I think that's a bit of wishful thinking. Jess
Tank is now up to over 62 thanks to around 90 miles of driving back and forth to Huntersville a couple of times yesterday. 65.3 was the average for the day. Temps are supposed to settle back down to normal this upcoming week: in the lower to mid 50's. Jess
I work from exit 32 to 36 and above, next time your in the area, Wed - Sun after 4PM stop by the Pizza Hut (exit 36 in front of Walmart), I'm there. Good numbers for middle of February - Dale
Fillup after my weekend trip: 12.6 gallons, 762 miles (record by 32!) = 60.48 mpg. Larry, looks like you've got it this time.
The bad news is that I had to drive at night in the rain, and got a 52 mpg segment. The good news is that it was warm 2 days later and I got a 71 mpg segment. Wooo! I still think I am pretty far behind the last tank. I hit the half tank mark tonight, and should be able to get a guesstimate. I hope you do well, but I do even better! Larry
My little car can be deleted from this run. I have no chance of completing the miles required to qualify by the end of the month this time. Are we going to keep doing these? if so I would like to "race" in the A division for the next one!
No you still have two other drivers behind you. what is with your log, you have the last tank entered three times and the one before twice?
Thats funny how last fall we were going at it for the win, and now we are fighting for last place LOL! something about winter up north cramps our mp g style eh? I am glad we had enough warm weather to melt some of the snow so I could find my little car again! I knew it was buried somewhere nearby, it was good to see it again!
hahah, that's funny. I will be going for it again for the spring run, but winter along with some maintenance issues slowed me down . either ways glad to hear you FOUND your car hahah! with Mn weather I wouldn't be too surprised it just got lost somewhere and recovered beginning of summer. I must have been awake too long when I posted those tanks. I noticed it was a bit high when I entered, but I didn't think much of it. Thnks for catching that! I am missing a couple tanks at about 28mpg. I don't remember exactly so I wont try to put them up. They'll get absorbed into the avg soon.
I've never been a part of the mileage logs because they take to much of my time and I get great mileage anyway. I'm not sure what class A,B,C, I should enter into for this competition. GaryG
Thanks Ricardo I guess sign me up for Division B then and I enter my tanks from December 1 '08 till Feb. 28th. Here is a photo of my '09 FEHL: http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/7661/cat/500/ppuser/36 GaryG
I just added my tanks from 12/1/08 till present to what I thought was the Fuel Economy Run IV, but it went into the Hybrid Fuel Log. What did I do wrong and can we change it? GaryG
It has to be added into the quarter year FE challenge manually. Sean should be able to do that however I'm not sure if it's feasible at this point to put the info in as we're about to start the Spring FE challenge. Post a link to the mileage log for the 1/4 yr FE in your next post and if Sean is ok with it, it'll get added.
Thanks again Recardo! Here is the link to my mileage log for the Fuel Economy IV: http://www.cleanmpg.com/index.php?page=garage&displayunits=MPG(US)&viewcar=2818 GaryG
