As with everything else, you'll have to find the balance between acceleration rate and total energy usage. On the ICE side, we're taught to accelerate moderately, not too slowly and not too fast. For the electrical power, there's still the time factor to figure the total energy. Area under the curve if you're plotting... :)

For some Tesla drivers, you can guess their efficiency by the frequency at which they have to replace those expensive tires.

That certainly seems a reasonable request to me, although less important if the one-pedal feature allows easy precise modulation in and near pure coast state. A light regen setting would be helpful, too---just enough to cover electical overhead without charging or discharging the battery.

    jcp123 Caliente!

Not bad numbers lately. Filled up today:

    418.4 on 8.760g for 47.8mpg.

Last three months have been a 46.5mpg avg., and luckily we average a bit below the US average.

I have switched my primary fuel station. I always swore by Chevron/Texaco because of the Techron, but when I have a Valero not that far from home whose prices compete with the WalMart across the street, making it 10-20 cents less than virtually everybody else in town...I start going there. Plus the pump I use lets me stuff a bit extra in the tank without going past the initial click, so I don’t feel I’m risking any fuel saturation issues. My last tank was the most expensive per gal in a long time at $2.879/g, but that’s not bad at all - I haven’t paid that much for a gallon since I had the Echo back in October of 2014.

Half of this trip I was in the low 60s for indicated economy. This is mostly highway, and then driving in rural New York. I ran out of range in northwestern Pennsylvania on the return trip, and thought that I was going to run out of gas! Just made it to the first gas station in Ohio. Still over a gallon in the "tank"

Diane's sister and her husband were visiting from Colorado over the weekend.
They have a Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range. They say 30 minutes on a Supercharger
gives 200 miles of range. Not sure if they made the trip in one day , it's 1000 + miles.

    Very nice car.

Wow, longest trip I anticipate is 106 miles e@ch way to our holiday home in Whitby - should be doable on a full charge (360 miles).

Last night, non-motorway route, 65°F, mostly tailwind WNW7:
    49.3 (FCD 51.5) / 20.0

This morning, motorway route, 61°F, mostly headwind WSW7:
    52.1 (FCD 54.5) / 21.5

    Tank steady at 48.8 (FCD 51.0) / 489.5 / Range 170 . Guess gauge F____|_«««E . UG up 0.3 at 47.1 / DTE 153

I've calculated I need approx 177 miles to get to the dealer who is buying my car and the indicated range is 170.
Hmmm, I may have to put a couple of dollars of gas in the tank to get me there......
The last time I sold a car (the Honda FR-V 6 years ago), I managed to get to the Audi dealer 90+ miles away with 6 miles of range showing on the FCD!

I suspect that range number is highly variable, depending on variables like traffic and especially speed---just it is as for a petroleum burner.

I'm assuming they go 70 on the Interstate , but I didn't ask.

Today , 71 deg F in Northbrook , 70 in Elk Grove Village.
    Tank is at 390.6 miles , 262 remaining. FCD = 70.0 x .943 = 66 MPG.

    Today 17.2 miles, fcd = 72.1 x .943 = 68.0 MPG.
About 121K miles on the Prius. I need to think about changing oil and filter.
It was last done in February at about 111K , along with the brakes.

My Audi has done 49k In just over 6 years Edwin. Nearly 5 years of car pooling kept the miles down .

    Wednesday night, non-motorway route, 65°F, tailwind W7:
    50.7 (FCD 53.0) / 20.0

Thursday morning, motorway route, 60°F, headwind W7:
    54.8 (FCD 57.2) / 21.5

Last night, non-motorway route, busier than normal, 63°F, mostly tailwind WSW3:
    48.0 (FCD 50.2) / 19.7

Took the last few bits out of the car including the UltraGauge which will probably end up in the wife's Hyundai i10.

This morning, non-motorway route to a gas station, 61°F, mostly headwind WSW6:
    55.8 (FCD 58.3) / 12.2

Amazingly put exactly 1 US gallon of gas in the tank - I say amazing as the pump displays litres and I put £5 in which is $6.81 at today's exchange rate!

Before I put the gallon in, the range on the FCD was showing 80 miles. The range is now 105 so with the 12.2 miles travelled that's only 37.2 miles extra range - seems a bit low. Strange how the FCD calculates it's numbers sometimes....

    Tank up 0.4 at 49.2 (FCD 51.4) / 570.4 / Range 105 . Guess gauge F____|__««E .

The dealer who is buying my Audi is 95 miles away and the indicated range is 105 so I should make it!

    Tank is at fcd = 70.4 x .943 = 66.4 MPG.
Not planning to drive at all this weekend after
I get to Diane's at 12:50. I have my bike in the car
almost all of the time now. Going for a solo ride
    Sunday morning early.

Friday lunchtime to dealer buying my car, some really slow bits on the way down, had to drive a bit faster once I'd passed them to get there on time, 73°F:
    51.9 (FCD 54.2) / 96.4

    Tank up 0.3 at 49.5 (FCD 51.7) / 666.8 / Range 15 . Guess gauge F____|___«E

That makes 49009.3 miles in total in 6 years and 39 days of ownership or approx. 8000 miles a year.

Overall mpgUS works out at 46.4.

Total cost of gas £4495.33 = $6139.99 @ $1.36586 USD to GBP which works out at 12.53 c per mile

Hopped in a taxi to pick up my new Tesla, had a test drive, filled in the paperwork then drove home - excellent!

I haven't got a charger at home yet but the mains cable that came with it (in the frunk) puts about 9 mile per hour back into the range so I can work with that until my home charger gets fitted on Friday.
I also had a go at charging with a free 50kW charger at a local supermarket on saturday - we were in the shop for 18 minutes and the charging was complete on our return and the range was 302 - I have it set lower than the max 360 mile range quoted - I've gone for just under 84% as a daily maximum.
We are going to our holiday home next Saturday until Tuesday so I will charge to 100% then which should get us there and back with a bit of running around - first proper test.

My first commute this morning started with 298 miles showing on the range and when I got to work 21.4 miles later, it was at 277 so pretty accurate.

It measures efficiency in Wh/mi and the trip was made at an indicated 210 Wh/mi.

I searched the net to try and find out what that actually meant and found this:

How to convert watt hours per mile to miles per gallon gasoline equivalent [Wh/mi to MPGe]:
    MPGe ≈ 33705 ÷ (Wh/mi)
So it works out at 160.5 miles per gallon equivalent [MPGe]

if that’s right, that will do for me!

    It's a beautiful motorcar , Gord !
Today , 63 deg F in Northbrook , 64 in Elk Grove Village.
    17.2 miles , fcd = 71.0 x .943 = 66.95 MPG.
    Tank is at 527.6 miles , fcd = 70.7 x .943 = 66.67 MPG..

Does "mpge" take into consideration the price of the electricity ? That
can vary by a considerable amount depending on where you charge.
Wouldn't watt-hours/mile be a better way to describe your efficiency ?
What do you say , Bill ?
