Texas has always been a total see-saw for winter temperatures. It's a battle of the air masses - freezing one day, then warm for a few, then another freeze. We're warm right now, nearly 70F. 51.4 / 4.3 to work this morning, kids have the day off school.
Texas.... has terrains next to the warm Caribbean Sea, AND 5000 foot territories, open to Arctic blasts. Latitude ranges from 26Deg to 36Deg. help spread temperatures around, too.

It was a big circus show getting everyone out the door. Had to backtrack a minute down the road because someone was missing a shoe!
Today , 18 deg F in Naperville and 16 in Elk Grove. A NNW wind of 7 MPH was in my face for 2/3 of the way. 35.1 miles , 53.7 MPG. Not so great.

After a rainy lowland & snowy mountain beginning, February is having wonderful days right now. Went for a low-land hike (staying below the snow). Spectacular views of the snowy mountains, from 1000 foot altitude.
In our high-priced Seattle-Everett area, 87 octane E10 has been stable, but around $2.95 & higher. In a lower priced area outside our region, 87 octane E10 is $2.55 & higher. Over in Idaho, 87 octane E10 has dropped to, as low as $2.28.
87 E10 has been around $2.759 at Top-Tier stations in the Naperville-Aurora area. Way too cheap , IMHO ( as I look at all the land yachts zooming past me on the highway ). Yesterday , drove home from work , 32.6 miles , 63.1 MPG. No highway. Warmer temps helped also.
Didn't drive Sunday , except to go to GF's house in the morning. Today , 36 deg F in Woodridge , 35 in Elk Grove , wind NNE6. 23.3 miles , 69.8 MPG. Tank is at 355.6 miles , 214 remaining , 58.8 MPG. Expecting snow today and a lot more tonight. Oh boy.
Busy weekend. Had an event in Dallas on Friday. That's 130 miles away. Highway driving (75mph limit ). I didn't quite do that, but it was way too fast. Then in Dallas I got to drive in rush hour both arriving and leaving. 37.2 mpg going there. 42.1 home I filled halfway home. Worst tank ever. 42.76 mpg / 447 miles This morning I'm sitting at 44.6 / 115 mi, half of that from the trip.
