    Today , 41 deg F in Naperville , 40 in Wood Dale. Here's a funny story :
When I got home yesterday , the range (miles remaining) read 219. This
morning , after driving 35.1 miles , it only went down by 30 miles , to 189.
My morning route (23 miles highway , 12 miles surface streets ) in cool-ish weather
doesn't give more than about 60 MPG. How the heck do they calculate "range" , anyway ?
Is it based on the tank ? The previous trip ?
    35.1 miles , fcd = 60.9 x .956 = 58.22 MPG. Tank is at 407.3 miles , 60.13 MPG.

Today , 54 deg F in Naperville , 57 in Wood Dale. There was no noticeable wind.
24.0 miles , 70.93 MPG. From now on , unless I say otherwise , all my MPG #'s come
from the Prius fcd x 0.956. Went out for Nicole's daughter's birthday to a rather
$$$ restaurant. Her son-in-law insisted on paying. That was nice.
    Tank is at 481.6 miles , 60.90 MPG. Range = 120 miles , so I will "think about "
filling up on the way home Tuesday.

    I filled up on the way home last night. 577.4 miles , 9.468 gallons at $2.999. Fcd = 63.9 x .956 = 60.98 MPG.
I'll accept that. Some aerodynamic bits on my car are broken or missing after a long brutal winter , and it
struggles on the highway. Of course , it was never a highway champ. Today , 48 deg F in Naperville , 47 in
Wood Dale. Headwind from the east and light rain all the way in. 35.1 miles , 54.40 MPG.

    44.1 / 19.3

This morning, motorway route, detoured traffic light section, pretty good run, 46°F, tailwind E7:
    51.0 / 21.8

    Tank down 0.3 at 49.4 (FCD 52.0) / 581.1 / Range 70 . Guess gauge F____|__««E . UG steady at 49.2 / DTE 84.7

LFL will probably come on on the way home

    31.3 mpg / 0.8 mi

    60 mpg / 5.7 - home
    52 / 11.5 - this morning

That leaves my tank at 53.3 / 33 miles. I've got a 200-mile round trip this evening, likely in the rain. :/

    Tank has 72.9 miles , 59.85 MPG.
It can stop raining any time , and that would be okay with me.
Hopefully , it's dry when I leave work at 3:30.

Rain and thunderstorms. Left work early because power was out. Half my coworkers are still in the dark this morning.

I took a highway trip after the storm last evening/night. I had to backtrack twice due to flooded roads. The return trip with bee hives in the back was fine. Just poor timing from when I ordered them weeks ago.

    48 mpg / 131 mi out
51.1 / 116 home on mostly dry roads

    Tank sits at 50.0 / 288 mi.

    I hate backtracking :(

Last night was the worst journey home for a long time, crawling up dual carriageway towards motorway so ended up with multiple detours and lots of rolling at slow speed with engine off, heavy rain, 48°F, crosswind N5:
    46.5 / 21.9 - actually pretty good FE considering!

This morning, took detour #2 reversed to cheapest gas station around, 46°F, mostly crosswind 8NNE:
    47.1 / 14.1

Last night, detour #2 - worked it hard in the busy traffic - lots of engine off crawling, 66°F, cross/headwind SSE6:
    50.0 / 19.3 - very unusual to get a calculated 50mpg on the journey home - excellent! :)

This morning, motorway route, detoured traffic light section, 52°F, no wind:
    52.3 / 21.7 - another great run :D

    Tank up 0.6 at 49.3 (FCD 51.8) / 128.0 / Range 580 . Guess gauge F««««|««««E . UG up 1.3 at 51.0 / DTE 562

Today , 39 deg F in Naperville , 41 in Wood Dale. No wind that I could detect.
    35.1 miles , 60.51 MPG. Tank is at 5/10 pips , 257 miles remaining , 354.9 miles driven ,
61.95 MPG. I'm usually too lazy or tired to report the afternoon/evening trips , but they
are typically better than the inbound morning commute. Warmer temps ( I usually leave the house at 4:10-ish )
and no highway means higher MPG. Also , the way I go home , via Planet Fitness in Naperville , is both the shortest
and cheapest ( no toll ) way to go. Yesterday : from work to home , one long stop at PF . was 31.8 miles , 68.83 MPG.
