  1. Idk.
After talking to the engineers, it was the 12 volt battery that was replaced, not the hybrid battery.
Sent them the video of it acting up. The one seemed like he didn't believe me or I was making it up. "I drove your car home and I couldn't get it to do anything you're saying".
Well it did it for me, I didn't have to try very hard, and I got it on video.
Waiting to hear the next step

I'm waiting , too. Your experience will help my decision on buying a Volt. The 2nd gen car looks really good, perfect for my commute. But whether or not GM can keep a car running , and keep the owner happy..... this remains to be seen.

Like I said before for what GM has into your car it would have been cheaper to buy it back at sticker and replaced it with a brand new one.
What is the hourly rate for an Engineer with benefits?

Like my brother told the CFO of a major client (you all know the Co.) it would be cheaper for you to hire an in house IT guy at 80K-100K than fly me in on your private jet, put me up at a hotel and pay me the $200 an hour that I charge.

BTW they took his advice after a year of him reminding them what it was really costing them for him to do routine maintenance on their corporate HQ computer system.

  6. Interesting call the other day.

Engineer Described the issues my car is showing like this: At your house, if the A/C kicks in the lights in living room might do a quick flash. The volt is supposed to be smart enough to see the voltage change and compensate for it, smoothing it out so you don't see the flash.

My volt seems to be hyper sensitive and overreacting.

Engineer also asked what happens if I run the defrost. Idk, I hadn't tried yet. But what do you know, turn on the defrost and the lights go dim and bright on their own. Forwarded that video to them today.

Still waiting on a call back.

Too much resistance on "some" current path. By the way, my house lights (or any other circuits) do not dim (voltage sag) when the geothermal system kicks in. Or the clothes dryer, or wall oven, or...

    Hi James:

Thanks for now taking vids. Document all of these gremlins with vids. No BS, no accusations. And if you have to go to court, no problem.

    PS: That music sucks. :D

  9. I've got a bunch of videos. Switched all of them to private-need link to view for now

Here's this morning with no defrost, no hvac and some better music for you.

    Well, at least they're trying.

  12. Talked to service manager and sales. As soon as the car makes it back to the dealer, sales will get me a trade in value. Going to try to trade in the Volt and the express van and go down to one vehicle.

Looking at the Colorado crew cab, 2wd diesel or a Ram 1500 diesel. I think they'll have a hard time getting me a good price on the Colorado when there's Rams discounted like this

    Hi James:

The RAMs with the EcoDiesels are a steal. Especially the base work trucks!

  14. Open for thoughts and or bashing....

Looking at a used 2014 Silverado 1500, double cab, 2wd, 4.3 v6, wt trim but not totally stripped.
Would be trading in both the volt and express van, going down to one vehicle

    Hi James:

Multiple dealerships and do not forget about the 16 RAM 1500 Tradesman with the 8' bed and the EcoDiesel. About the same $s as a WT with the 4.3L and loads better.

  16. Yea, gf's replacement tank for her town and country came in yesterday. I'll be taking it in next week and asking about the ram.

  17. So, here's the unofficial story from a service manager who admitted it was slightly over his head. GM called Continental to come out and look at what my volt was doing. Continental makes the center stack. What I was told was Continental had to make a special software tune for my center stack. Now that everyone involved has banged their heads thru the wall with the frustration in figuring this out, EVERYONE CHECK YOUR CENTER STACK with lights dimmed

    Hi James:

Is your first gen Volt as good as new now?

  19. Idk, I drove it straight to a dealer and traded it in on a used Sierra I had put a deposit on last weekend. Van and car are gone. I'm in a 15 Sierra, v6, 2wd, 3.23, double cab.

    Hi James:

What did they give you for the Volt anyway? The repair history had to be picked up by the Used Car manager which is why I am asking.
