This tank is up to 119.8 mpg over 1119.9 miles with 2 bars of 20 left on the gauge. I will probably be filling up tomorrow or Thursday at the latest as I should reach my goal of 120 mpg for this tank by then.
I filled up today. Apparently the FCD was a bit pessimistic as the distance traveled / gallons used came to 121.730 mpg. I went 1,146.7 miles and pumped in 9.42 gallons. This was a new PR for distance as well as well as mpg.:woot::woot: I last filled up on Easter Sunday April 8th which means I had 9 weeks and 2 days of commuting as I drove my wife's car one day when it was storming.
640.1 miles, 12.887 gallons. Missed 50 MPG by thaaaaaaat much! The 49+ still bumps my average nicely, though. (Hint hint--Div C standings need to be re-ordered!) -soD
a coulpe days in the xb with 3-4 other people doing city driving with the a/c on must of hurt. 31 on the last fillup. Driving about 250 miles this afternoon with just me one way and a couple hundred pounds of cargo on the way back. Looks like I can take mostly 2 lane 55mph roads for the trip and stay off the eway. Hopefully it'll help bring my # back up
Larry, WOW! I thought that my one month and counting between fills was doing great. I will not have a record distance or fill, in fact this will be my worst tank of the year. Nice Job Dave. James, passengers and short trips are killing me. That long trip should make things better.
Yes! 249.3 miles. A/C the whole way, yes I'm a whimp. 4 wheels and tires for the van for half the miles. 6.22 gallons 40.08 mpgs
Holy cow, excellent Gord! I don't know if I'll have another to tank to post before the end of the challenge, thanks in part to the scooter and bike being used a little more, combined with less trips than usual (been working from home).
if I can get the van sg calibrated I want to enter it in the next one. Hey, someone has to come in last.
1000.2mi @ 69.458 (fill up number) = EPA+82.8% My SG2 is pessimistically configured : 66.2mpgUS This is my last fill up for this challenge. Frv & Mr. Pancake are beating me, but nobody has a better MPG than mine in div B&C Lets get crazy about next goal : 1111.1mi @ 71.1 mpgUS (EPA+87.1%) Denis.
Refilled after 42 days @ 44.452 mpg over 504 miles. It was better than I hoped. Most of the trips this tank have been very short and usually with the kids in the car, so almost no FAS. Wife decided to borrow the car today, which means I'm off to another mediocre tank. She went 172 miles and the FCD is showing 44.3, but the UG is reading 38.8. I'm guessing the UG is reading low with steady state driving. Tomorrow I have a 470 mile round trip planned for a doctors visit. If the weather cooperates I will bike it.
Hey , if I had a motorcycle at this time I would be riding it, too. But my question is : can you beat the Fiesta's fuel efficiency on your scoot ?
I honestly have not tried. The Harley, now gone, had a best tank of 51ish. The FJR 1300 has seen 44.36 with a low of 40.05. With the electronic clutch there is no neutral coasting. I can't shift into neutral unless the bike is at a complete stop. I rode 489 miles yesterday at true freeway speeds plus a little and stayed over 40 mpg. There is no way I could have driven like I did in the Fiesta and got that kind of mileage. So in theory the bike beats the car, but the way we drive the cars is the biggest factor
4th >400 mile tank in a row! 18 days on this tank, with an elapsed (engine on) time of 14 hours and 44 minutes (trip computer figure). 75% city driving. Average speed of 30 MPH (average of UG and trip computer figures). A computed 0.7965 gallons per hour average for the tank (spreadsheet figure). Cost per mile of $0.081 (spreadsheet figure), $3.049 per gallon. 11.735 gallons consumed over 456.3 (adjusted) miles for 38.8864 MPG. It was a bit hotter this tank, I think I set my own record of 89° outside without using the A/C. Scratch the above, it got up to 100° outside Friday, and I made it without A/C. But later that day, A/C was a must at a humid 88°. Only one highway trip this time around. Not much more to report. I decided to clear out my UG's long term averages and will do so for each quarter. That way I can have an FE Challenge page to track my progress between challenge entries.
