:Banane54::Banane21::Banane42::Banane53::bananajump: A new best tank, in December no less. 50.189/492 miles. The bad news is that I filled up far from home and on the drive back I only managed 44.6/76.9 miles. It was all in the dark, with high winds and freezing rain/snow. Kirk
Way to go, Kirk and Sean. Deserves another one of these :woot: Looks like I may finish this tank before the end of the year, I'm hoping for a record December even though it's well down on recent fills!
Amazing, Sean! My next tank will lower my challenge average, so I think you've got this one wrapped up. :woot:
Thanks, Andrew! It only took how many tries? You know, I've only used one tank per quarter this year...
Filled again. Not a great tank, as I had to run downstate at psl to make an appointment. The tank was in the crapper before I started today. The wife "borrowed" the car and dragged it down almost 5 mpg in twenty miles. 43.321/492 miles Kirk
Man, I knew I was going to hate entering this last tank... Dropped me down to 4th in B. However, I set a new distance record - 702.6 miles. I also outfilled Sean! It took 17.062 gallons! I may or may not have another fill this go around, as I will be driving to St. Pete for Christmas. If it's a good tank when I get back on the 28th, I just may fill it early!
I knew I was running it low, but to the best of my knowledge, our tanks are identical. Only other thing is a greedy gas station... (read improperly calibrated pump! )
As I thought, I finished this tank before the end of the challenge! I had a pleasant surprise as I got way more (5.5%) than Ultra-Gauge was telling me. Ended with a pretty amazing 48.4mpg. Looks like I may have to move up to Division B I filled up slightly earlier than normal as the diesel was 17.5c a gallon cheaper than at home. I could easily have got a 700+ mile tank but settled for a 600+ mile to save a few $$
And another tank for the challenge. This was on Saturday (the 17th). 10.391 gallons over 361.9 miles (adjusted) approx 85% city miles, for a not-too-bad-considering-wet&cold-weather 34.832 MPG. I may get one more tank in this challenge as I'm already one pip below half.
First and last full tank of the challenge, 769 miles, 15.69 gallons= 49.01 MPG.... a bit less of what I was expecting, but not bad.
Did my final fill for the challenge yesterday. 45.165/404 miles. Was disappointed because UG was showing 47.1. The last 200 miles were put on with many short shopping trips with the kids. I'm also off to a sad start for the next challenge. Took my 13 year old twins up to my grand daughters 2nd birthday party. 38.7/211 miles without any fas, and having to run the defroster most of the way because they would not stop breathing. Kirk
no more fills for me as I still have 4/10 of a tank left and this is the last day I would drive the Fit, Until next year
Here is my final tank for this Challenge. 10.665 (whew... that was close) gallons over 379.1 (adjusted) miles for a whopping 35.5481 MPG. I feel pretty good about this quarter, seeing that my average for Challenge 14 was only 33.493 compared to 35.826 for this challenge. :woot: I'm hopeful that I can hold the same (or better) average this quarter during the colder months. Is there a trophy for last place? Edit*** Hold the phone! It appears that I'm not in last place? Maybe PeterRRC hasn't logged all his tanks in yet.
I'm pretty happy with my results. I noticed that I drove 107.4 miles more than all of Division A combined, and if we take Mr Pancake out of the equation I drove more miles than the rest of Division B. Driving lots of miles certainly doesn't help to get great mileage. Over this three month period, had I only achieved EPA for my car I would have spent an additional $243 and if I was driving my old F-150 @ 15mpg I would have spent an additional $1100 (assuming $3.50 a gallon). Next quarter is looking like it will be rough. With snow now on the ground and temps still dropping, I'm hoping to at least achieve the EPA highway rating for my car. Kirk
JonNC, You beat the EPA, That means you are ahead of the vast majority of the population. When looked at from that perspective, you're still a winner.:flag: Kirk
