I think it's worse in Florida than it is in Penn. It's 90+ F and probably 90+ % humidity.

    But I could be wrong.

On average, worse. We had about 3 days when it was nearly unbearable, at least when you're not used to it. :)

Fillup from last night posted. Nice recovery from the A/C and low mpg points. This tank will be the first full tank with my intake modified for better MPG.

MT bucket I want my MPG!

I am out, sorry it took so long for me to know. Dang! I only needed to do one tank and I probably would have placed 3rd in div A (assuming I would have broke the 200% mark.)
But I just don't need the car anymore, i never drive it, always carpooling, and dont want to spend the time and money to keep it going. I am looking to sell the car now.
It was a good time though, I learned alot about getting great mpg here, thanks all! and it is a good skill to have learned, might come in handy again some day if I ever get another car. thanks and good luck hypermilers! :)

    You know what ? I'm happy ;)

Seriously, I'm happy that you are able to live without a car
There is no challenge here to reward you about that, but I can say that everyone here is happy to see you doing such a great move

    Have fun,

    Denis.

I filled up the Prius (now primarily driven by my wife) since she is going to Cedar point tomorrow after she gets home from work. She traveled 373.5 miles and used 5.84 gallons for 63.9 mpg.

aburk4, think you can drive in the rain or something this tank and drop from 161+% to the 160 area? :p

Added another tank; 620.6 miles added at 39.4 MPG.

When I look at my mileage logs, I can see how far I went total on each vehicle - nice for the challenge. When I click on the other folks, I have to do the math by hand - Is there an easy way to sum up the mileage and add that to the info page for a vehicle?

    Here's the mileage stats currently:

    Sulfuric: 3318.5
    Kacey: 3833.5
    tpmjr: 1285.5
    Nevyn: 6632.6

    um......whoa.

Wow. That is a lot of driving.
I haven't gotten many hours where I work the past 2 months (delivering pizza), so my mileage is lower than I was expecting. I still have another tank to add before the end of the challenge though.

You can look at the general Mileage Logs page, but I haven't updated all the vehicles. Some are still in the Gas / Hybrid categories, and there are entries from last challenge.

Question for the group (mainly Sean, Larry, Denis):

I am working on a good distance tank, possibly to beat 1108 miles. This is my last tank of E-free gas, so I want to make the most of it. However, it'll take me into July to finish the tank. That leaves me with only one fill for this challenge. It's legitimate, but kind of not in the spirit of the challenge.

    Thoughts?

    I could:
Fill early and forfeit the distance, but have 2 fills for this challenge.
Keep going and only have one tank for this challenge.

Either way, the MPG will be about the same.

I am hoping to buy a Honda Civic HX, to SERIOUSLY compete against PaleMelanesian, Right Lane Cruisers and shining stars!

Andrew, finish out your tank and leave it at one tank for your competition entry this time. You'll recall I did that with both the Elantra and the Insight with their respective record tanks because they lasted so long.

    Good luck!!

Scott, catch us if you can! ;) :D

Right, Sean. I considered your 2-car record run, and that was legitimate because you included both in the challenge. Besides, your foul-weather car won over the fair-weather one.

Yeah, that was funny wasn't it? :) Imagine what I'd have done if I'd only driven the Elantra on the good days instead of the Insight!

If I can get a good string of non-windy and non-rainy days my current tank will be pretty good, but I keep getting stuffed under 114mpg by the weather... and I haven't been driving the Elantra through any of it.

In preparation for a road trip to Cedar Point tomorrow, I filled up the Insight today. It seems as though the FCD is a bit on the optimistic side as I had 98.5 showing for the tank and the calculated was 93.8 mpg over 716.9 miles. Perhaps it is the unregistered miles due to FAS ing?
