I'm gathering equipment for a battery trickle charger. A 12V, 1A wall-wart power adapter is the heart of it.

When I finish this comment I will post my last tank in The Fall Economy run. First a few observations: I should have entered the B Division instead of A as my car and I are no match for the "rock stars" at the top of A. The mileage requirement should be for more than 500 miles and at least one tank entered during each month of the run. Some of us seem to be driving our rides every day in fair weather and foul and others are taking advantage of the warmer periods and shunning the cold. I had 9 tanks during the competition and the best was 700.3 miles on 13.070 gal. for 53.58 Mpg. That one tank would have qualified for the 500 mi and 200% of EPA. This is not sour grapes. I enjoyed the competition and I learned a lot by participating. My hat is off to the person who appears to be the hands-down winner, CobraPond, and to those who pushed their rides past the edge of the envelope. We have proven that we don't have to burn fuel like there is an infinite supply of the stuff. My biggest disappointment is that the world (of drivers, that is) has not taken notice and instead of being applauded for our efforts the media leans towards ridiculing us. I think that we have all done the impossible and I look forward to the next competition in which I will use E85 for my fuel of choice. I switched fuels today. E85 is $1.359 per gal. in KC today.

Just to be clear, both of my rides are in the logs -- my Elantra was the "foul weather" vehicle.

    WARNING! PROUD DAD ALERT!:D
CobraPond is my son and he is driving the car I once drove.:woot:

As for the 1 tank/month requirement, my son just doesn't drive that much. He only goes to work and does very little running around otherwise.

The "hat's off" was genuine I did not intend to put anyone down at all. I do think that the requirement should be more than 500 mi and for at least a tank during every month. Not to shortchange anyone - my hat is off to the winners in all divisions. We all had the option to change divisions after we got started as I recall. I chose to stay where I was. I'm going to end up in 8th or 9th place but I asked for it and I'm not unhappy with the result.

Haha, a tank every month...I haven't filled up since June. I guess that is why I didn't enter though :p I am about out actually, in probably 2 weeks I will have to give her another tank of fresh gas. :) I see all these gas stations that are not about $1.80 here and I keep thinking about how it was $3.80 when I filled up last...lol

Yeah, my tanks lasted from July into October and November. 1111.9mi in the Elantra and 1567.4mi in the Insight (one tank each -- sorry.)

I think Sean would make a great spokesman for Stabil Fuel Stabilizer.:p The longest I've ever went is around 6 weeks when I went 1143 miles.

Since I moved to Toronto I can't get my tanks to last more than a couple weeks. I do only get about 550 miles on a tank as well. Around here you can't do anything using Mass transit unless you don't mind paying more money than it would cost to take your car and you can afford to take 2-3 times longer to go to your destination.

Not too bad for today. On segment 3 I forgot to plug the EBH in when I brought my mom over for dinner. That alone probably cost me an 80+ day.:ccry: Temps were low to mid 40'sF and winds were from the WSW@ ~10mph with gusts to ~20mph.
    1. 64.8-4.6(home to mom's)
    2. 105-4.6(mom's to home)
    3. 55.2-4.6(home to mom's) 4.
    101-4.6(mom's to home)
    Average for today was 75.5.

Not good. As soon as I dog it up I'll post it, but it was something like 56 MPG. Cold weather is a killer.

And the tank I am currently on included a high speed (55 MPH) run to Lexington with some serious wind that day. It'll be even lower, something like 54.

A buddy of mine said riding in my car was like "a penalty box". No heat, taking turns at full speed with "80 PSI" in the tires (really 75 :D) and probably with the windows cracked to keep from fogging. While I am Dwg, everyone else suffers. :p

Hey, at least you play some cool tunes! :) I would have a blast riding in your car! But I am a MPG geek so that doesnt count! ;)

I won't be putting in gas until early next week, but I've seen a drastic hit to my FE because of all the rain we've been having. Even though the weather has been relatively mild all this rain is probably going to put me out of the 50's and into the high 40's when if there wasn't all this standing water I would easily be getting over 50 again. Blarg.

I found out that the foot pump that I bought does work after all. I haven't had the time to get to an air pump at a station. Yesterday I gave the foot pump a try. I never realized how much cold affects air pressure. Well I knew but actually seeing it for myself was a big smack in the face. My tires went from 40 PSI when it was 60-70 out down to 30 PSI when it's mid-30 to low-40s.

Well just filled up today for the last one of this challenge. Not a good tank at all. I drove less than 200 miles on this tank with my fiancé having a lot of errands to run and with me only having a 3 day work week. It was looking like a possible record tank for the first half. That was the last I drove it. To get 35 MPG (to be a personal best) I have guessed at needing 270+ miles at half a tank. Last I saw it was about 220 miles at about 3/8 of a tank gone. I get in the car yesterday to goto my dads and 410 miles on E.:(

I think this will be my last competition until either I get a scangauge or fix the Suzuki.

I have two tanks to add myself, but I'll be lucky if I hold 180%. It's just not looking good with cold weather.

I'll get up the results thread this evening, perhaps tomorrow if I can get it by then.

this run seemed to have gone by extremely fast...cold weather nipped my good tanks in the bud. I should have something better for the next run however. Keep us posted lame-o :p lol.

    Final two tanks added. :ccry:

My tank numbers are falling faster than the temperature.

I will tabulate the results this afternoon and declare the winners. My computer is *finally* due back today.
