Well, if it didn't involve driving from Connecticut to Wisconsin I would be extremely tempted. It would be a treat to meet some of you folks one day.

Hey, if wayne could drive from chicago to NY at 45mph in pouring rain you can drive to chicago. Maybe you and Dan could arrange something where you drive to pitsburg and then split the driving to WI?

One thing that is making me probable is this is in a fairly central part of the country. It's probably going to be the best-organized hybrid event for sometime. It will be awhile before the Dallas Fort/Worth area has anything like it.

Normally I would be happy to drive with Brick but there isn't enough room in the Prius for my family and the Brickster. We will be driving up Friday, arriving Friday afternoon/evening at the Clarion Suites in Madison. The wife and kids will spend the evening in the pool and I will poke around to see if I can find some familiar faces. My parents will be driving up from Aurora, IL on Saturday morning and go with my wife and kids to the fair. That will leave me plenty of time to get familiar with the FE contest route.:D

Right now it looks like I'll be going. Let me pay off a few bills first because I'll be taking the Lake Express Ferry for a $200 roundtrip.

I'll be there! It'll be a partial reunion for the Prius Marathon gang, with good parity now that we'll have the best two drivers and the low performer of the group (that would be me - barely able to keep my head above 100 mpg during that epic effort). I'm looking forward to seeing old friends, putting faces with many I've only known online, and meeting lots of new folks.

    Welcome DAVE!

Star of the HBO movie "Too Hot Not To Handle!". Well, star might be a bit strong, but you did a great job.

Yes, I will be there. I'm driving my Insight from Seattle, hoping to achieve high mpg along the way, and save gas! I'm looking forward to meeting many of you. Upon arriving I will be rather tired of sitting, so Wayne is taking over the wheel to compete in the 20 mile efficiency run. He should enjoy my car; very lightweight with no A/C or spare tire or passenger seat or outside mirrors.......

    Thanks Wayne,

The star of that movie is the planet (Too Hot Not to Handle is focused on climate change) but our hybrid segment got to kick off the 'solutions' portion of the piece, and that was very cool. For any interested, it's still airing on various HBO channels, and regardless of Wayne, Dan, and my short section, it's an excellent primer on the climate change issue. Soon to be available for dvd purchase as well, I understand.

1100 miles. 19 hours. Drive until your ass falls off, and
then turn right. Well, I'm still being tempted... maybe I should
try to hook up with some semi-locals..

I was thinging that I'd never see any of you but I did actually see Wayne driving LiL Red when I was over that way. We never met but I saw him on the road.

I hate the idea of wasting gas driving somewhere to show everybody how much gas we save. I'll go if there is ever something going on in the KC area.

It's not only to show people how much gas we save, It's to meet other hybrid owners and to mingle with people that may be interested in hybrids. It also is going to have other people there showing what they are doing for the environment and/or hybrids. There is also going to be the county fair there and the area near by is a great vacation spot with lots of attractions.

Re: Who from CleanMPG are planing on attending hybridfest

I'm torn between trying to do the haul on my own and sleep in
the car in rest stops, or hooking up with some boston-local folks
to copilot with. So far it doesn't sound like anyone from
this area has stated any intention of going, despite numerous
reminders into forums that I know include lots of Beantowners.
I also have several other options for what to do that weekend --
one being helping with http://www.hopenumbersix.net/ -- and others
involving sticking around this area. This is why I was asking
about multiple-day activities in WI, to sweeten the pot for
doing that long a drive. Some of the things mentioned over on
Priuschat do sound interesting, especially the "tear apart an
insight and wire in MIMA" or whatever on the Sunday.
    .
I will learn more about the feasibility of "car camping" in this
thing over the next couple of weeks, when I try it as part of a
band gig I'm helping with. Driver's seat or a Thermarest on the
"freight bed" in the back, we'll see what works best...
