    Filled up yesterday. $2.199 for 87 E10. 575.6 miles ,
    fcd = 64.5 x .943 = 60.8 MPG.
    Today , 37 deg F in Naperville , 38 in Elk Grove.
    35.0 miles, fcd = 60.0 x .943 = 56.6 MPG.
Started out with a very low battery ( 2 bars ) because I did something dumb
yesterday , something I haven't done in a long time. I was distracted when
I arrived at home yesterday ( attractive woman parked in my driveway ) and
when I backed the car into the garage , I left it in Ready Mode. I hate when that happens !
My trip A , which had been at 70.0 MPG , 5.6 miles , plummeted to 33 MPG. The car
was in ready mode for almost five hours. Ouch.
After driving to work , Trip A was up to 53 MPG.

^^ If I'm not missing something, that works out to 0.018 gallons per hour while parked in Ready.

Actual fuel consumption == CO hazard

I hope that was a detached garage. Edwin, for your own sake, I hope you never leave your key fob in the car again. That's how you didn't get the warning beeps, right?

^^ Evidently he survived the CO hazard.

The first couple of times I made that mistake, I ignored the warning beeps, assuming it was crying wolf over something insignificant once again. Subsequent times, the beeps worked.

It will stay in ready mode ( and run the ICE ) even if the key is not in the car.
And the garage is attached. I was lucky enough to go out to the garage
around bedtime and noticed the smell of exhaust right around the same time
I saw lights on the dashboard. I probably did get the warning beeps , but like I said , I was distracted. :)

I'm too lazy to figure that one out. So,thank you. It still hurts to burn 0.075 gallons for no reason.

Ooh, I never thought about the wind chill aspects of a bike ride...

With the sweat and speed and temperature, yikes!

    I just looked this up.

I have one pair of gloves for "cool" weather ( 40-50 F ) and another pair
    for "cold" ( < 35 F ). Wind chill on the face becomes a real issue at 20 deg F ,
and dangerous at zero deg F.

This morning , frost on the Honda ( Prius is kept in the garage )
But I am going to Madison right after work , so I drove the
Honda. 34 deg F in Naperville , 30 in Elk Grove.
    35.1 miles, fcd = 43.1 MPG.
Could be worse. Wait...........winter in Chicago ? It WILL get worse.
But I steel myself for this every year. i just do the best I can and try not
    to get depressed.

The Honda MPG is lower as the weather gets colder (duh). 60MPH on the Interstate (PSL 70 )
gives about 45 MPG in 35-40 deg temps. Still in the Honda today , we'll see what it does on
the scenic route home , without shutting off the ICE at red lights if I suspect they are going to
    change to green soon.
