Hello to all D$W members and friends.

As we celebrated Earth Day on Saturday with the Drive Electric Earth Day event, we had 52 attendees for the 54th Meet of Drive $mart Wisconsin. We had 9 Tesla's, 4 Volt's, 2 Leaf's, 2 Bolts, 1 BMW i3 and a Fiat 500e for the DEED event and numerous other PHEV's and hybrids from our D$W crew.

We split the Meet into talking about the 50 Tools for a Lifetime techniques as part of $mart Driving training and then followed with an open discussion of EV's. We were fortunate to have Tesla Software engineer Garlan Garner (in his beautiful white Tesla Model 3) and Tom Content, Executive Director of CUB (Citizens Utility Board) talking about Tesla technology and the WI. PSC interest in expanding/improving EV charging across the state respectively.

All D$W members in attendance shared their experiences using the Tools for a Lifetime segment and many EV owners loved to hear about extending their range with these $mart Tools. During a working lunch, everyone contributed to the EV discussion segment, sharing knowledge and expertise.

Wonderful D$W/DEED Meet, informed education, sweet rides but it's always about the people...great people. Thanks to Marie, Justin, Teng, Ben and Garlan for taking ownership in this D$W/DEED Meet.

OK then what’s coming up…a lot:

On Saturday August 24, D$W will be having table space at the Waukesha County Sustainability Fair at Retzer Nature Center. We’ll have some EV’PHEV’s on display and sharing our expertise on $mart driving and everything you’d need to know about electric vehicles. I may be doing a Fox 6 segment about the Fair, EV/PHEV’s and $mart driving as part of the promotion for the Fair. I hope you can share some time with us…down at the Fair.

Then again on Saturday Sept. 21st, we’ll be sponsoring our third NDEW event, but this time up at the New Hope UCC in Jackson WI, south of West Bend. We’ve moved it to Jackson because New Hope offers unlimited parking and we hope to draw D$W members and friends as well as EV/PHEV owners from the Green Bay, Appleton, Fond du Lac, Hartford, Sheboygan, Port Washington our more northerly areas. In addition to the car show part of this NDEW event, we’ll be offering information segments each hour on EV/PHEV 101 and Drive $mart 101 to all attending. We are looking for any volunteers to help with the logistics on that day so if you want to display your ride or volunteer please sign up though the link below.

The final event coming up will be our 56th D$W Meet scheduled for Saturday October 4th back in our home at the Greenfield Public Library. Details have not been finalized but we’ll keep you in the loop if you can keep that day open.

So, Marie, Justin and I thank you for all your encouragement and support over these 13 years and we think that green transportation is as important as ever and using the 50 “Tools for a Lifetime” by driving $mart is helping you financially and helping our only home…our Earth.

We hope to see you soon for some fun, good times, good food, good education and good friendships.

    Bradlee Fons
