Today , 60 deg F , wind W 11-12 , rain all the way. No fun at all.
15.4 miles , 70.96 MPG. An "okay" trip home yesterday helped to
keep my tank at 72.45 MPG for 236.1 miles. Today , I'm stopping THREE times
after work , so that won't help at all.

    52.6 / 5.3 - home last night
    64.9 / 5.4 - out to band practice
    58.7 / 5.4 - home
    73.9 / 5.2 - work this morning

The tank is up nicely to 55.0 / 495 mi. If only I could keep this pace for a whole tank without that pesky "life" stuff interfering.

47.6 - Out to Walmart. Didn't have what I was looking for.
49.8 - to Northern Tool. They had it.
49.7 - leg one back to home (engine off turns UG off)
53.2 - leg two back to the house.

That last leg has always given me a spot of trouble with some pretty steady climbs, but looks like the car does best by getting it into 5th and then basically holding 35ish mph - so that discovery let me pop above 50mpg for that leg.

If I get my alternator tensioned, maybe I'll go for a test drive, but proving the fix means getting over 3200rpm, where the belt lets go. So no promises :)

Good news: got the ridiculously stripped alternator tension bolt out. Bad news: the belt is either too long or clapped out. It holds with low load, but add headlights, defroster, and AC, and it still slips. Luckily a full-load drive is rare for me.

Better news: got some exhaust wrap more properly on the exhaust gash I had. Sounds a bit less like a ricer now. I happened to have to take a drive to bond the tape to the pipe, got 51.2mpg for that circuit.

Heck , I've never seen 3200 RPM in my car.

Today should have been a great commute trip. 61 deg , tailwind of 3-8 MPH , dry roads.
But a lot of bad luck with traffic signals hurt me. 15.4 miles , 75.52 MPG.
Tank is at 269.6 miles , 72.07 MPG.
I'm off next week and probably won't be able to post ( computer at home is ill).
Next Saturday I'm driving to Nashville for a concert , about 17 hours of driving for a two
hour show. I plan to go no faster than 65 MPH , but I will still feel sick about all the fuel
I'm burning up. 50-55 MPG ? If I'm lucky. But there will be two of us in the car , so not so bad.

Filled up today, it's a bit suspect. My usual pump was down, so I used another one. UG claimed 44.5mpg, calculation was over 48...hmm. I have my doubts. I'd be elated to be wrong, but I suspect next fillup will even things out.
