Today , 55 deg F , wind NW 2-3. 15.4 miles , 74.96 MPG.

Tank is at 513.5 miles , 72.07 MPG.

I know that if my trips were 25-30 miles of suburban slog , I could do a lot of 80 MPG trips.

I accept the fact that my car does not excel on the highway , but I feel that it could be beneficial to do 150 miles at warp speeds ( 65MPH ) after putting in some fuel system cleaner.
Maybe I'll go up to Madison next weekend.

I am at a very familiar 7.0mpg in the truck, about 1300 miles in on this month out on the road.

 

Hey James, did you hear about the Shell Airflow Starship semi-truck that's setting
out on a coast-to-coast fuel economy run ? I think they're gunning for 14 MPG , IIRC.

 

I had to look that up. If he accomplishes it, then wow! And loaded to the gills, no less. I see he's avoiding the worst of the terrain the US has to offer though

At 15' longer than a standard sleeper rig, he's gonna have fun parking. And I hope he's got no tight backing to do...

...but that's a really neat looking setup. It's visually enticing and the hybrid with extra tall gearing intrigues me a lot, far more practical than the full-electric trucks. I sometimes wish I had a real flatlander gear which would take my engine down to 1100 or 1200rpm.

 

Boo. Ran a bunch of local jobs on the IL side of the St. Louis area. That ran me down to 6.6mpg.

 

I missed that one way or another...
