It goes to the shop Tuesday night. Tming blet, tensioner, water pump, thermostat, fuel filter, complete tune up(cap rotor ponts wires etc), and the 4wd switch is acting up. Looking forward to getting it all squared away.
Back from the shop. Timing belt was shot, water pump had a bearing going south. Glad i took care of that right away. Whoever worked on it before crossed two wires. I am amazed that it ran as well as it did. Air filter was plugged completely. After new points, cap rotor wires, plugs and setting up the timing it runs a LOT better. Four new tires, plus the timing belt kit and new thermostat and coolant flush and it is ready to hit the road. The 4WD switch is toast so i have one ordered form Japan, will take about 3-4 weeks to get here. No worries, dont need the 4wd anyway, we can drive it the way it is. All else is good and the underside of this 1990 is VERY clean!
Kei vans are becoming a guilty pleasure of mine. They are so hideously ugly that I almost think they're kinda cute, and you can't beat the packaging. My Jalopnik side likes this alongside your Pao and other randoms like the Lada Niva, Omni GLHS, Alfa Spider, and TVRs.
They really are a distinctive look. I would also love to grab a Suzuki Jimny with the 660CC intercooled turbo. Need to give my wallet a break for now though. I have a few parts orders in transit from Japan for both vehicles to finish up a few things. Today we got a nice spring snowstorm, around 8" or so, so the DD's sat outside while these 2 sat in the garage.
