Hyundai August 2016 Sales Overview Hyundai achieved its best ever August sales results in history thanks to the new brand addition called Genesis. August sales of 72,015 was up slightly over the 72,012 sold in August of 2015. YTD sales of 521,078 are up 1.3 percent over the 514,175 sold through the same period of 2015. Hyundai’s new luxury division kicked off with sales of its new Genesis G80 mid-luxury sedan reaching 1,497 new owners. Hyundai August 2016 Sales Highlights As shown above, there were three standouts in August. The Accent (sales of 8,329, up 76.0 percent over the 4,733 sold in August of 2015), Tucson (sales of 7,608, up 15.1 percent over the 6,609 sold in August of 2015), and Santa Fe (sales of 15,176, up 34.8 percent over the 11,255 sod in August of 2015). YTD sales of these three standouts are up 21.6, 12.0, and 75.0 percent over that sold during the same period of 2015 respectively. August 2016 U.S. Automobile Market Share Detail In August, Ford’s U.S. market share was down a significant 0.7 percent. Subaru on the other hand experienced an uptick of 0.7 percent thanks to their blowout August results shown below. On a volume basis, August of 2016 US Auto sales of 1.51 million vehicles down a rather steep 3.8 percent below August of 2015s 1.57 million vehicle sales result. 2016 YTD sales of 11.2 million is up 0.3 percent above the 11.58 million vehicles sold through the same period of 2015. The juggernaut called Subaru overtook Kia and has now placed Hyundai clearly in its gun sights. The seasonally adjusted annual selling rate (SAAR) for light vehicles in August was 17.2 million vehicles. On a YTD sales basis, light-vehicle SAAR was 17.3 million vehicles.
