    90.7mpg - 17.0 mi, 44*F

Felt like a good run but numbers didn't show it.

    Oh well eh? :)

yawn. i had to get up unnaturally early and take the 4 lane this morning to make a 7am meeting. traffic was fairly light, even close to town, so i could keep it between 55-60MPH. it seemed like i was getting passed by smaller cars than i usually see. maybe the smart ones go to work early. well, except for one guy.....there was a semi coming up, and i could see that he knew i was going slower, since he pulled over quite a way back. when he came by me then i could see the poor guy had a pickup stuck to his butt.........doesn't he know drafting is not acceptable?

    64.3 into the lot

We're down to about 8. The car seat arrived yesterday, and the seat covers a couple days before that. I'm hoping to get those installed this weekend. The nursery is coming along. We've got to paint one more piece of furniture and the trim in the room, but I hope to have that done this weekend too. Unfortunately, these tasks have taken precedence over getting my EBH installed. I do have the outlets and timer ready though...

Oh my -- has it really been 4 weeks since I asked you last??

Very close! It does sound as though you have everything prepared, though.

Be sure to teach him/her to hypermile the tricycle... and get a handle here! CleanMPG's youngest member is just 8 weeks away! ;)

Be careful shopping in the toy section, the toy gas guzzlers waaay outnumber the toy Prius...if this reflected the real world you would think gas was $0.25 a gallon.

We're having a difficult time shopping for boy things. Most have fast cars, trucks, gas tanks, etc. I save a very cute shirt with a car filling up at a gas tank. The only way we would allow him to wear it is if he stitched "H2" on the tank. :p

Speaking of hypermiling, in one of our "New Baby" classes, the instructor was saying that we tend to overfeed our young, which is why they spit up. They recommend feeding just a little bit every so often. Pulse & glide --> sip and rest. :D

This morning was pretty good, EBH stayed on, started off at 143F, dropped to 113F in 2 blocks, but then continued upward, along with mpg: ended up with a virtually unmolested 36.6 for 11.5 miles at 4:45AM departure from home. Trip downtown again, both ways stunk big, 29.9 and 30.6.

133.7 mpgs to the parents house.

I'm hoping for the best on my drive tomorrow. I'm going to get up ~5ish and head out. That should put in in Detroit by 8pm.... Hopefully Leaving earlier also means I can drive slower to maintain a decent average. It will be nice to see why I can finally do with P&G on open roads and not having super short commutes like I normally do

Hope you are not a hardcore road tripper cause bathroom breaks are few and far between @ 80+ mpg!

The longest I've ever driven is ~5 to 5.5 hours. This will be 3 times as long!

I'm planning on seriously limiting my liquid intake while on the road.

    Tru Dat!! ;)

I used to make marathon runs between SC and MN. I would only stop for gasoline and as long as I didn't eat or drink anything during the trip I didn't need a bathroom break. :) 21hrs at a stretch for about 1280mi.

i have done some 10 hour ones, but not recently......i used to drive to colorado once a year, but never could make it all in one shot.

it's a tough balancing act. i would need the caffeine to stay awake, but then you pay the price by stopping more often. and when you get there, you are so strung out you can hardly function.

have a safe trip, blake :)

Yes, good luck, Blake! Make us proud. ;)

Boy was there some heavy traffic this afternoon! I felt pretty constrained. :(

I tried but couldn't exceed my tank total... so I brought it down a bit. :p

21F (16F windchill), 4mph headwind from the WSW, overcast (still no snow):

    1. 52.0mpg for 22.3mi
The tank came down a bit to 54.4mpg over 297.7mi with 10.5g left and the guess gauge is showing 1 needle width over 7/8ths.

I'm a bit ahead of any prior tank I've had so far! I don't think I've ever hit 300mi with 7/8ths left before... :D

And just think, I wasn't getting much more than that on an entire tank this time last year!

i was a bit off tonight. went to the barn and rode, and there was some light snow when i left, and it was covering the road just enough so i couldn't see the lines. that always slows me down. it cleared up about halfway home.

    60.5 into the garage

Filled up today the first time since before xmas. Got 42, same as last tank. It is looking like the daughter will be driving the Prizm now. That means I will need to commute in something close to a GSP and probably double my cost to work. I need to start shopping. Could there be an Insight in my future? (I wish.) But some of them seem way over priced. Like 2000s close to the price of a new Yaris.

At the top to the mountain with 205.9 miles on the trip odometer @ 77.0 mpgs. Car is feeling the effects of altitude and cold weather as its all but impossible to maintain lean burn up here :(

Next update in around 300 miles or so.
