If, like me, you're tired of the banana cheerleader squad accompanying each of your forum posts, here's one way to banish them:

    - Go to "User CP" (control panel)
    - Go to "Edit Options" (under "Settings & Options")
    - Scroll way down to "Miscellaneous Options"
    - Under "Message Editor Interface", choose "Basic Editor"
    - Click "Save changes" button at the bottom

    Just thought I'd share :)

I could turn them off since I have most of the code for them memorized.

No, because I read cmpg in a TEXT browser thankyouverymuch..
You can do as a lot of people I know do and disable animations,
but sometimes you want to see some if they illustrate a point.

    Hi Al:

___Although I know you hate it, I have a 10-user XP license for if you want to build a Windows box for the forum sites? I do not think a separate box w/ Windows installed would go up in flames during the install and use but I bet you secretly wish for it to do exactly that :D

    ___Good Luck

well, if I *want* to see dancing bananas I can read the
forums with a GUI browser on most of my current platforms, but
for the most part and except for the occasional picture-heavy
posts, why bother... I've *got* 'doze boxes available, this
    is a personal choice thing.

My preferences on emoticons is more of the standard and compact ones, leaving the bananas for the "extras" in the popup box

They're cute, but they aren't so fun if you have a hx. of a seizure disorder.
I like Delta Flyer's suggestions. I don't find it too bad if someone uses one in a post, it's to have the constant jumping around in your line of vision for everything you read here. I could cover them up sort of sometimes but they were always in the edges.

Another option would be to not have them as the default. When you go in and sign up, then you could opt in (or not) for "animated emoticons".
