Welcome to the grind
Thanks for starting our thread , Gord.
Today in the Civic. 54 deg F in Naperville and in Elk Grove.
35.1 miles , fcd = 46.0 x 1.021 = 47.0 MPG.
first highway trips in the new car. Very wet roads, raining most of the time. Some traffic, but not much. Highway speeds 60-70.
60.0 mpg/53.9 miles
50.2 mpg/54.1 miles
No problem Edwin - been very busy lately!
Friday lunchtime, non-motorway route, raining, head/crosswind NNE6, 49°F:
46.6 (FCD 49.1) / 19.6
Friday afternoon, had to take father-in-law to a hospice as he was being sick a lot and they needed to 'level' him out.
We dug his car (Peugeot 2008 diesel) out of his garage and used that for the next 4 days for visiting him and everything else.
Took it back after visiting him Monday and ended up with FCD for all the trips at 55.9 (67.1 mpgUK) over 164 miles.
Back in my car this morning, motorway route, gusty headwind W16, 41°F:
45.6 (FCD 48.0) / 21.5
Tank down 0.2 at 47.2 (FCD 49.7) / 471.8 / Range 160 . Guess gauge F____|_«««E . UG down 0.1 at 50.0 / DTE 206
Way to work it, TFF. That Camry's an awesome highway cruiser as well!
Very nice results, Gord.
Cheers Bill, we were 3 or 4 on board most of the time too!
Today in the Prius. 46 deg F .
35.1 miles , fcd = 61.8 x .943 = 58.3 MPG.
Saturday will include about 130 miles of driving in the Civic , 70% highway.
Have a birthday party for my grandson. He's one year old !
Happy Birthday Edwin’s grandson
Last night, non-motorway route, raining, mostly tailwind WNW6, 45°F:
46.7 (FCD 49.2) / 19.7
This morning, motorway route, mostly headwind WNW8, 36°F:
45.6 (FCD 48.0) / 21.5
Tank steady at 47.2 (FCD 49.7) / 513.2 / Range 115 . Guess gauge F____|__««E . UG up 0.1 at 50.0 / DTE 165
Lost pip 6 (of 8) @ 499 miles
Going home slightly earlier tonight for my second jab - hope traffic is better!
I assume you mean vaccination. I go for my 2nd one ( Moderna) Wed the 12th.
Glad you were prepared. I think I changed the 2017 Prime's key fob batteries just a few months ago. Cost of the proximity unlock and other functions I suppose...
That's right Edwin, both of mine were AZ. Good luck with yours.
I changed the battery in my 2015 Audi's key fob last year.
Last night, non-motorway route - the earlier time really helped - much quieter, raining, tailwind W12, 45°F:
48.6 (FCD 51.2) / 19.6
This morning, motorway route, headwind W6, 34°F:
50.8 (FCD 53.5) / 21.5
Tank up 0.2 at 47.4 (FCD 49.9) / 554.3 / Range 70 . Guess gauge F____|__««E . UG up 0.2 at 50.3 / DTE 127
AZ appears to be a good vaccine.
Not part of the daily grind, but if you need a 12V (automotive plug) tire pump and are okay with
giving your name/email to a seller associated with a product brand, contact me via private message
(start a conversation from your inbox at the top, for example, or do the same from clicking on my
profile picture). You'll be able to get the pump for free in return for providing feedback and likely
product review. I got connected to this via Amzn from buying one of their car mirror dual cams.
They've offered other products for me to test, but this tire pump was the first one I wanted to use.
I'm not getting paid to sell your info.
edit: Limited offer... I don't want to do this middleman bit for long. Hopefully the interest is limited
as well for my sake.
Today in the Civic ( until Monday night).
41 deg F in Naperville , 43 in Elk Grove.
35.1 miles fcd = 46.7 x 1.021 = 47.7 MPG.
I will let this trip accumulate miles until I
get home Monday night.
Last night, non-motorway route, tailwind W8, 48°F, filled-up at a cheap gas station near home.
The one I used to go to on the way to work is now more expensive even though it's the same retailer:
50.0 (FCD 52.7) / 19.2
Miles on tank: 573.5
Calc. MPG : 47.24mpg
Calc. Range: 68.2 miles (allowing for extra in tank)
FCD Range: 50
FCD MPG : 50.0 MPG (5.75% over-report)
UG MPG : 60.46 MPG (6.56% over-report)
No. of trips: 31
Average trip length: 18.5
Average speed 31mph
Driving time on tank: 18hrs 35mins
Days since last fill: 20
Ave. Temperature: 47.3°F
FCD over-report for tank 81 will remain at 5.3% so I'll adjust the FCD numbers down by that.
Gas station to home, 46°F. It was a little further but it meant I missed some temporary traffic lights near home and saved a few dollars:
45.8 (FCD 48.2) / 2.6
This morning, motorway route, headwind W7, 37°F:
49.9 (FCD 52.5) / 21.6
New tank at 48.6 (FCD 51.1) / 24.2 / Range 615 . Guess gauge F««««|««««E . UG at 52.4 / DTE 683
UltraGauge seems a bit out - I may have to adjust the calibration again. It does seem to need different settings for different seasons.
I haven't driven anywhere since Thursday. The weather is gross out, snowing today. Yesterday, my father told me that he was going to buy a new car, for the first time in almost fifteen years to replace his 2000 Ford Taurus. Ended up purchasing a 2014 Ford Focus with the dreaded PowerShift "automatic" I warned him about the transmission. Paid $11,000 after TTL, including a 5 year, 200,000 warranty. I'll have to run him some numbers on our warranty from my job tomorrow. See if we can save him some money that way.
All my driving this weekend ended up at fcd 44.3 x 1.021 = 45.2 MPG.
Had to travel at higher speeds than I wanted to ( I-294 is insane ).
I'll be filling up on the way home today.
Today , about 40 deg F inNaperville as I was driving to work.
No wind. 35.1 miles , fcd = 61.6 x .943 = 58.1 MPG.
I did fill up. Pretty decent tank , but I left the numbers at home.
I probably won't be home until Thursday night.
