Today , 2 deg F in Elk Grove. I drove the Prius from
Glenview , so 10.0 miles , no highway.
    Used no heat or defrost. Fcd = 47.2 x .943 = 44.5 MPG.

Bit behind with my stats

Going home last Monday, motorway route, tailwind W10, 37°F:
    49.5 / 21.4

Woke up to a few inches of snow Tuesday morning, cleared the drive and some of our road before setting off, motorway route. Came to a complete standtill on the main two-lane into Sheffield on a slight incline - a rwd BMW and a Lexus were stuck.
Eventually made it past and only got stuck again in the work car park where it took a few backwards/forwards to get into parking space, headwind, ENE8, 32°F:
    41.9 / 21.8 - amazed to get over 40 in those conditions!

Return journey with a detour to a shop, tailwind, ENE8, 35°F:
    46.4 / 21.8

    Wednesday, 38°F:
    49.8 / 21.5
    51.8 / 21.5 - home, 43°F

Thursday took daughter's Fiat 500 to give it a drive while she's teaching from home.

    Friday, 42°F:
    50.5 / 21.5
    50.5 / 21.4 - home, 41°F

This morning, non-motorway route, 30°F, snowing again, cleared drive and hill again, called in on the way to fill-up:
    48.8 / 14.1

    Tank Stats

    Miles on tank: 597.0

Calc. Range: 60.7 miles (allowing for extra in tank)
    FCD Range: 30
    FCD MPG : 48.8 MPG (0.8% over-report) - much nearer than normal
    UG MPG : 48.8 MPG (0.8% over-report)
    No. of trips: 30
    Average trip length: 19.9
    Average speed 32mph
Driving time on tank: 18hrs 42mins
    Days since last fill: 23
    Commuting: 95.4% (very high)
    Ave. Temperature: 41.5°F
Ave. no. of people in car: 1.06
    Pmpg for the tank: 51.2

FCD over-report for tank 77 will be 5.3% (slight drop) so I'll adjust the indicated numbers down by that.

Absolutely. Most people would be happy with those numbers on a commute with traffic, not to mention the snow and tricky car park parking.

41.5 deg C is pretty warm for this time of year.

It is one deg F here.

The last time I arrived home in the Honda , I forgot to
reset Trip B. This morning , I noticed and reset it after
about two miles. So , my results are skewed. And at zero
to one deg F , the results aren't so great anyway.
    Probably around 38 MPG.

Should be better on the way home at 16 deg F. :)

Wow, a regular heat wave! ;)

We've had a foot+ snow storm followed by alternating days of lesser snow (only 3-6" each) and colder temps (staying below freezing during the day and down to as low as 1 degF expected next Monday). World weather sure is messed up just looking at this one tiny location. :) litesong's getting a lot of NorthWest rain. Someone's undoubtedly getting heat and drought somewhere though that's probably Wayne looking for it in Death Valley. :D

It's been a little chilly around here. Today not that bad
at 7 deg F in Elk Grove. The Honda said 4 deg in Aurora.
    35.1 miles , fcd = 37.9 MPG.
It was better going home yesterday , 16 deg F and a tailwind
    yielded 42.5 MPG.
Filled up the Honda on the way home. 454.1 miles , fcd = 40.0 MPG.
Could be worse. Maybe in Alaska.

Today I drove from Glenview in the Civic.
    3 deg F , 10.0 miles , fcd = 35.6 MPG.
Driving the Honda three days a week keeps
about 200 miles off the Prius.

Going home Monday, motorway route, quite slow in the snow, 30°F:
    42.6 / 21.4

    Tuesday took daughter's Fiat 500.

    Wednesday morning, motorway route, 29°F:
    46.1 / 21.5

Warmed up to 30°F going home!:
    44.8 / 21.4

Even colder this morning, motorway route, 24°F:
    47.9 / 21.5

Apparently last night was the coldest for 26 years in the UK. In the Highlands of Scotland it plummeted to -22.9°C / -9°F

    Tank up 1.6 at 44.9 (FCD 47.3) / 91.5 / Range 590 . Guess gauge F««««|««««E . UG up 3.8 at 48.1 / DTE 559

I guess these cattle are well suited to those Highlands. :) I hope, anyway... That's pretty cold for your island though north 57 latitude of the Highlands is pretty "up there."

I never realized how far north the U.K. is. I'm at 42.5 North and you're maybe around 51.5 North. Heck, I thought Nova Scotia was far north, but that's "only" 44.6 North. Funny how the globe and perceptions tricked me.

Paid off our C-Max today, selling our Focus to a co-worker this weekend now that we have the title situation figured out. A lot of "big" changes in life, even if they don't make a big difference in day to day life. I like not having two car payments, and being in less debt is always a plus.

Fuel economy wise, the C-Max is getting 30-40 MPG. The Camry gets 20-30. It has been brutally cold outside recently. Can't wait for spring, and getting on vacation. We're thinking of going back to Tennessee in April, it's our only time to get away this year. I'll be receiving my first dose of COVID Vaccine tomorrow since I work for the local school district. I don't know what brand, everyone I know so far has had more reaction to the Moderna vaccine than Pfizer. We'll see! I'm anxious about it.

That's the best kind of car ! One that's paid off , and still has a lot of life in it.

A bit cold here , too.
10 deg F this morning at 5:00 when I got to work in the Prius.
I filled up close to work at an Exxon ( I think it's Top Tier ) at $2.599.
    461.8 miles , fcd = 54.6 x .943 = 51.5 MPG. This may be the lowest I've recorded
in the ( almost ) six years I've owned the car. Gallons = 9.146.

The trip in was 35.2 miles , got stuck in my DRIVEWAY and had to shovel to get out.
    All before coffee , grrrrrr. fcd = 50.4 x .943 = 47.5 MPG.

    Excellent!

Here's a little reassurance... The clinic I work for has Moderna vaccine and has started the Massachusetts second phase innoculations. I got mine as part of phase 1, but only received the second dose 3 days ago. Injection was painless. Day after felt like someone had punched my arm hard and I was tired all day, but the latter was likely due to our 9-week old puppy keeping me up. Next day felt better. I've been shoveling snow this whole time. Today's the 3rd day and I barely feel any residual pain hear the injection site. Overall, a good experience for me, but I hear it does vary person to person. My wife should get hers as part of phase 2 as soon as the clinic allocates her doses and assigns her appointment time.

Yes, Exxon is top tier. Hey, a 51.5 MPG tank is nothing to sneeze at, particularly if it's your worst. Keep up the good work.

Must be tiring hearing me say, "tires!" ;):D Are they still good or down past the wear bars? What's one accident worth to you?

Doesn't the Gulf Stream get credit for the U.K. and Ireland not seeming as far north as they actually are?

My friend who's a nursing prof says about one-third of people have a reaction to their second jab of Pfizer. Herself did---1½ days of a "whopping" headache and some fever, then was back to feeling normal. I don't know the corresponding percentage for Moderna.
