Today , 55 deg F , and despite what Wunderground says , I had a good tailwind when I was headed east.
Of the 35 miles I drive in the morning , about 18 are east and 17 north.
    35.1 miles , 62.87 MPG. Tank is at108.0 miles , 61.57 MPG.

I'm reluctant to change my fcd adjustment factor. We'll run one more tank , then decide. If it seems to stay
4.5% , I will use that. Much better than 7% ! Maybe it IS the fuel.

Let’s hope so Edwin, my last tank was closer too @3%

Last night usual queue to motorway so detour #2, mild 60°F, mostly headwind 11ENE:
47.2 / 19.2 - best mid-week journey home for a while, very busy so lots of slow rolling with engine off.

    This morning, motorway route, 47°F, cross/tailwind 6NE:
51.0 / 21.2 - worked it hard - would have been even better but got stopped quite a few times in traffic light section.

    Tank up 3.8 at 48.2 (FCD 50.7) / 41.0 / Range 600 . Guess gauge F««««|««««E . UG up 3.7 at 50.5 / DTE 642

Good start to this tank and I'm on vacation after today for 10 days.

    Have a good break, Gord!

Rain here. 54.5 home last night, 50.9 this morning.

Tank is still going up (started in the repair shop...), now at 47.9 / 214 mi.

So far, that DT12 trans is disappointing in anything but clean highway runs. In 563 miles I have so far averaged only 6.8mpg, but abnormally, I have run a lot of miles off of the freeway and found myself in the urbanized and trafficky part of Texas between San Antonio and Austin.

The segment that did impress me was the 110 miles between Frierson, LA and Tyler, TX, where even at 70,000lb total, it managed an 8.4mpg run at a 58mph avg. (I am governed at 63mph).

Caveats are that I am still getting used to its behaviour and features, and with only 1449mi on the odometer, I am sure the mighty 14.8l, 505hp Detroit Diesel is still far from being broken in.

I'll say this: it's a total package which includes aero, terrain mapping, engine downspeeding, load sensing, and engine tuning. They call it Intelligent Powertrain Management. I call it a computerized hypermiler.

Maybe I'm an old fart , but sometimes I think that computers are making people lazy and stupid.

My next car will be a hand-me-down from Fred Flintstone but slightly updated ( pedals ).

Today , headwind all the way , 35.1 miles , 52.08 MPG. A good 62.6 mile run after work Thursday
helped to keep the tank up : 205.8 miles , 59.89 MPG. No work Saturday or Sunday , I will limit
my driving. I imagine Nicole has some things planned , maybe SHE can drive us , lol.

James, what's a rig like that cost?

Kids are off school today so a straight run to work gave me 64.2 mpg.

Indubitably! Automatic transmissions have had the same effect, starting earlier for most people.

    Looking forward to a car with proper manual transmission again. Hopefully , my knees will still be functioning ;
they're a little iffy even now. I can still ride a bike 50 miles at ?? MPH , but going downstairs requires care.
On top of that , I haven't depressed a clutch pedal since 2013. I will need practice. Luckily , my step-daughter
has a brand new Corolla hatch with 6MT , and she will take me for "lessons" , just like I did for her and my own daughters
    15-18 years ago.

I don't disagree. When I was working rental cars, I literally had one lady come in and ask me how she turned the headlights on. She said, with basically no hint of shame in her voice, that she had had cars with automatic headlights for so long, that she had forgotten how to do it.

Best I can tell, around $165k. I am not entirely sure if the fridge, aux climate system, and generator are extra cost or not, though.

    ****

I have gotten some more freeway time now. The load I just dropped barely weighed anything, but 10+ mpg for most of the way is a fantastic result when a trailer is hanging off the back of this thing. I can do as well or better with a 10-speed off the freeway (and not worry about this thing's odd shifting habits), but on the freeway, it's a rock star. It really nails the downhill glides.

Next load is a middleweight headed to the east coast. That'll be a bit more typical and a lot more telling.

Drove to see family and back for the Easter holiday.

Using the E10 equivalent of 32.78 kWh/gallon, actual MPGe is listed below
    633.6 Miles
    28.9 kWh used = .8816 gallon equivalent
    12.456 + .8816 = 13.3376 gallon equivalent

    633.6 miles / 13.3376 = 47.5 MPG

    Today , 54 deg F wind N 5-8. 35.1 miles , 61.84 MPG.
Tank is at 360.0 miles , 61.01 MPG.
Narrowly missed the rain last night , got home as the first few drops fell.
Trying my MonTuesThursFri workout schedule. When I work out , I take
scenic route #2 home. 21.8 miles to Planet Fitness in Naperville , 31.8 to home.
It's not the most efficient route , but more efficient than the Interstate ,
and definitely the shortest. No tolls , either. :)

Battled with Appalachia today. I continue to be impressed with this truck's ability to pick a glide, and how aggressively it uses the jake brake when I need it.

I don't have an mpg total for the day, but my average for the last week only dropped from 8.1 to 8.0 today. Probably good for its break-in to experience this. 3,405 mi on the clock tonight...on a vehicle which will likely see 400+k before it is retired from my company's care.

Highs were nearly 90* today, and most of the way I had a south wind hitting me as I rode east.

This thing works as advertised, and I respect that even if there are too few pedals.
