I was amazed when I drove by the other day and saw a Green 2003 First Gen on the lot.

One owner, no idea on mileage but what struck me was the asking price.

I would have expected it to be closer to $4,000 to $4,500.

I can pick up a third gen 2010 model 5 for $14K with a little over 40K on the clock.
And a 2011 III for $12,600 with 42K on the clock

Well, all I can say is asking price and selling price are typically two very different things. $6k does seem nutty for a 2003 and there's probably a good reason for that.

Dealers usually pad the asking price knowing people will negotiate. Another thought is that it could be a low-mileage car with new tires/brakes/etc ("just dealer serviced") and driven by the Little Old Lady From Pasadena, who parked it in her rickety old garage, and she purchased it new from that exact dealership in late 2002, trading in her shiny red Super Stock Dodge.
