    Hi All:

Just confirmed that a 2014 RAM 1500 will be arriving in IL on the 6th. A week to knock out the aFCD calibration – if there is one? – and the steady states and then a drive to California while targeting 40 mpg. #Target40.

The MSRP is $32,020. The 4X2 pickup truck with an 8’ bed can be purchased for $29,270 incl. D&H with the $2,750 available in Calif. Probably different in other locations? This is a true work truck with only few extras added including Trailer Tow brake and mirrors, the 3.0L EcoDiesel of course, sliding rear window, and a Uconnect 5.0 with the 5” display, AM/FM/XM and BT.

Will a cover on the bed improve the aerodynamics ?

    Hi Edwin:

Maybe .5 mpg or so. I was told it will include one.

    Hi All:

The Optima Hybrid is needed in VA for a KIA event and is being taken back a few days early. Meaning no drive review. :( STI Fleet Services promised me I can get another back at the end of August however.

I believe I am receiving the very low EPA rated Miata to review for a few days in its place?

Hope it's a 6MT , at least. Is the Miata engine DI , or is it yester-tech ?

    Hi Edwin:

Old tech FI. Not sure if its a 14 or 15 and not sure which trim either? Hopefully a base Sport with the 16s. Press Fleet vehicles are usually gussied up with toys so it will probably be a Club or Grand Touring with the power retractable hard top?

    Hi All:

We have a different kind of Review coming up. Just worked out booking a 2014 or 2015 Nissan Versa Note for a drive between LAX and Las Vegas, NV to begin in the middle of the week of Oct. 2nd - 8th. This one will not be so much a fuel economy centric drive but a picture drive as Russell Frost of FrostImaging will be taking professional photos of the 31/40 mpg rated 2014/2015 Versa Note in all of its glory with the desert backdrops in between. Still working out if Death Valley is within our plans right now but it could be. :)

Snaps from the short lead. Overcast skies mangled most of the shots as you can see. :(

    Hi All:

Been buried in e-mail that I have no time to really provide detail for but there are other drives being worked on including a European/Aussie TD I posted about two weeks ago and possibly a big one in a fleet of new NXs?

    Hi James:

    Don't we all. :)

When I get to California there is a 2014 RAM 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins waiting. That is all I know so far?

    Hi All:

The 2014 RAM 3500 showed some pretty decent results and some very average ones.

Next Wednesday the 2014 Optima Hybrid that had to be loaded up on a trailer and moved to VA on just a few hours notice is back in our hands. Cannot wait to get the steady states completed on that one. The new larger electric motor and programming should make highway travel a breeze once again.

I for one am interested in the steady state results on the '14 Kia Optima Hybrid. My sister's lease on her '12 KOH is up next May and she wants another one. After her time with her current car, she wants nothing but hybrid for her next car, and the '14s will likely be the current model when her lease runs out. She's doing fairly well for the type of driver (frankenstein boot on the right foot) and the '14 with its updated software may be a better solution for her.

    Hi All:

Trying to knock out the steady states for the Optima Hybrid in a few before the storm arrives. Winds are calm to 7 mph right now.

On Thursday, the new 15 Sonata Ltd. arrives. No ECOs available yet however. :(

    Hi All:

A 2015 Mazda3 with the 2.5L and a 6-speed MT arrived this morning. Was at the MAMA Fall Rally all-day yesterday and am setting up yesterdays sales reports now. Maybe tomorrow...
