You are a hypermiler par excellence, Denis.
I often heard "in a country of blind people, the one-eyed are kings". Since then whatever my result is, I want to improve it
I'm often thinking about people reaching 1000mi with a small 12ga (45L as on US prius & gas sub-compact) tank, which is 83.3mpg (2.82L/100). These are kings of hypermiling.
Wayne (xcel) reached 84.3mpg on a full tank during the Civic iCDTi review, then 88mpg. He noted he drove @ an average speed of 45mph, which is around my average speed during my daily commutes.
My short term goal is to reach a 2000km (1243mi) tank (3L/100 = 78.4mpg) so it can have an impact on people seeing it written on my car
My medium term goal is to reach these 83.3mpg with a 1320mi (2125km) tank. Andrew will reach 83.3 before I do so, but this will motivate me more
My long term goal is to have a SULEV car (the electric cars will be too expansive during next years...) to replace my old Euro2 diesel, such as a Prius. I will be able to directly compare with CMPG Prius experts
Great/bad news : I don't have to do my 500km highway trip next week, so my current FE12 challenge result is final. The bad news is that I will have to do it during next FE challenge which will lower my spring result.
Did my last fill of the Challenge yesterday. Woot--I finally pulled it back up over 40 MPG, and that's even counting the ~20 minutes of idling at the smog check station. Plus we've had very heavy rain here in the past couple of weeks; one weather station nearby is reporting over 3.5" total over that time. (Sounds low to me, though!)
I think my new tires are finally broken in. Plus I re-focused and worked on applying those basics again!
Last fill of the challenge. Tank started off with mostly spring-like temps. but with wind and rain and ended with winter temperatures and some sun. Looks like I'll finish in the middle of division B. I look forward to the next round and hopefully it will finally warm up some.
Last tank for me as well... didn't get to test to see if I could get to 700 mark because my &*^% Scangauge scrambled after bump starting from a FAS again ! I'll have to call LL and tell them it wasn't fixed with the wire they sent me. I took a picture with my phone but realized after I cleared and restarted the SG that the picture didn't save... I was going to post the picture here to show what I was talking about. Luckily I was right near a gas station, so the mileages weren't too far off, but I didn't get to change the offset because the SG thought I was doing a fillup on 0.2 miles driven... but the last tank reading I checked that morning was about 40.8 and the fillup came to 38.8, so I just adjusted to 3.0%
So I suppose I am solidly in second place (Sulfuric hasn't posted a tank since January ). I'm just surprised I brought up my MPG's so quickly. Here's to the Spring challenge!
EDIT - so, seemingly miraculously, the picture of the SG did save to my phone... I will post it in the Scangauge issues thread.
Man, we sure have had quite the dropoff/dropout of participation in this one... Is this usual? We haven't had updates from a few people in months!
I'd have more participation but I did a lot of work from home days recently and my route is good 30% shorter -- I just can't use up the tanks that fast anymore!
You say that like it's a bad thing.
Well, in the sense of awesome FE and longer tanks, no, I'll take the lack of commentary
Just referring to those who haven't posted tanks (or anything on the site at all) in months who were doing the challenge. I know it's no big deal, for "bragging rights" mainly, just stating my observations!
I know what you mean Sean... I've never only used a tank a month! Never!
I likes it.
Yep, sadly fewer people participated
Driving 30% less for Sean means a tank lasts 40% more and a 1600mi tank @120mpg would last more than a 3 months challenge Does MN offers 3 months of weather compatible with 120mpg ?
It does but unfortunately I'll never get a chance to experience it because my route is no longer compatible with such numbers.
I've got 1/4 tank left now (5 bars) and I'm using about 1 bar per 2 days.
Probably due to the weather, mileage pretty much sucks for those of us that actually have winter. A hypermiler really isn't a hypermiler until they've made it through an entire winter; summer is easy.
Just got my last tank in several days ago.. haven't taken time to update until now. Didn't turn out too bad. I forgot about that decent tank two tanks back. On to the next challenge!
hey! wait! I want "no scangauge" listed under my handicaps as well!!!!!! lol.
Done, and a great job for "flying blind"!
I'm still sitting at 3 bars on my tank.
Here's the new one: http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38580
Thanks! I would get one, but I'm working on the MPGuino from ecomodder. At this rate, i won't have it finished for another year.......... lol
I finished my final tank today going 851.2 miles on 13.633 gallons of E10 = 62.4mpg. Took some pictures of my OD and computer tank MPG which was wrong at 69.7mpg. Never used my iPhone to take pictures but my wife had our camera and I had too.
