The included vehicle stability control and traction control potentially reduces the number and severity of accidents. Vehicle stability control can apply the brakes individually to all four wheels and reduce engine power to help drivers maintain control of their vehicles. Traction control, as the name suggests, is designed to prevent loss of traction for the driven wheels – the front wheels of the Yaris. The two systems have been specifically engineered for the 1.5L Yaris engine in the Australian market. The Yaris three-door and five-door hatches and four-door sedans receives an improved audio systems with MP3/WMA compatibility, a 3.5mm audio input jack, a USB jack with iPod® control, Bluetooth hands-free telephone capability and audio streaming as standard across the lineup. The Yaris hatch is equipped with front, side, side curtains and the first for its class, front knee airbag as standard equipment. The Yaris sedan unfortunately is offered with the “option” to purchase side and side curtain airbags. Prices for the 1.5L models with VSC and TC added have increased from between $300 and $650 depending on the model.
