It can be as simple as A, A Long Ranger
    B, B LR
    C, C LR

    or A, A Short range
    B, B SR
    C, SR

with the abbreviations they sound like lux cars rather than challenge divs.

No additional rules or processing other than a minimum mileage and 3 tanks or more. Same people participating and just 3 more tables, and the SRs wouldn't need many updates ;). I could even help out if the extra ten min at the beginning of the competition or end of the competition would be burdensome to our good friend Pale.

May I direct your attention here? Last FE Run's results, from March to May.
We can expand the Marathon group and reorganize it by mpg or %epa, or even by gallons saved, since that's our real goal here. I think it might even be a good idea to have it on the first post, updated throughout the challenge. I'd still like to put it in parallel with the main ABC standings, though. In other words, everyone is in A, B, or C, but might also be in the Marathon group, or another special group if requested. Hybrids only? Automatic transmission? I'm open to suggestions.

    Just a reminder to everyone:
This challenge ends on Wednesday. Fill up on or before then for a tank to be in this challenge. If you're halfway through, you have the option to do a half fill now, or keep running into the next challenge. Your choice.

This is like the greatest idea ever! I like it.

I also like the automatic transmission section, but I'm sure that would only be a couple of us.

Either way, you do a great job at putting these together, and the challenges always keep me on my game:D

Hey Andrew, I'd like to enter the next challenge. My son is at work at the moment but he will be entering the next challenge too. Thanks.

Since we're amending the rules, can we make it so that all participants of the challenge must join the challenge at or close to the start? It can be a little annoying when someone wants to join halfway through and then you get bumped down a spot.

I too would like to sign up for the next round. I'm guessing I'm still in division B, due to my mediocre position this time. I would also like to sign up for the automatic transmission division... if there's going to be one. Thanks a bunch

    I like that :D

Hybrids and autos don't need a separate breakout though. (unless I'm wrong here, any one else driving an auto-hybrid or one or the other?)

Yes a separate marathon group arranged by regular division & % over EPA. (gallons saved would tax you a little more and closely tracks with % over) Pre-populated with returning marathoners, and the others getting pulled in when they cross the 3.5k mile threshold early.

I didn't have a choice, I had to fill up today.

Well... I could have waited ~100 miles, but i don't like to push it.

    561 miles
    13.882 gallons
    40.412 mpg

From 178.91 to 179.44%, and that's if for me on this Challenge. ILAveo still gets the truck division by 7.57%.

And one heck of a record for me with 6 tanks in a row above 40 mpg.

I'll see you all in Div B.

There are some insane numbers being put up here.
Can you hear the gas station owners screaming yet?

You've made good progress that's for sure.

I logged my last tank of the challenge. I was off a little bit, probably due to road construction issues -- 42 mpg. I'll probably sit out the next challenge since it is only one or two tanks until I'm putting the Ranger away for the winter.

Insha' Allah I'll be back in class B next spring/summer.

My results are final for this challenge. I'm still above 1/2 tank, and filling now will not change my position at all. I'll see this tank through to the end, next month in the next challenge.

My son told me this morning that he will be filling up tonight. He said his low fuel light started blinking last night.

I filled up today. I had 904.6 miles and put in 12.208 gallons. That came to 74.1 mpg.

I filled up early to end this challenge.
506.2 miles on 11.000 gallons. I tried to put more but that's all it would take.
    46.018 mpg.

    Done here as well...
I guess the cooler weather started to hurt my MPGs
I think before I sign up for 4th quarter I am going to have to install a WAI.

Just added my last tank of the challenge, and it wasn't pretty. 602 miles 9.804 gal = 61.42 mpg, 11 mpg less than my last tank, and 6.5 mpg less than my average. I have not had a tank this low since Nov 2008! Those BF Goodrich tires are costing me about 12% on average. I think my days of challenging for the lead in FE are over for the next 3 or so years until these tires wear out. I did the math on replacing them with LRR tires, and even so, it take 4 years (about the life of the tires) to pay back. Darn.

Filled-up for the last time for this challenge. This week-end I was afraid to not reach 55mpg... finally I drove 448mi with 7.408ga ie 60.47mpg = +95,06%

My MPG lowered a little but not as much as nyssinis', so I don't give him back his place and all div mixed I'm :
    • 9th about %over EPA : +106.93%
    • 10th about MPG : 64.15 MPG (ie 3.666L/100 & CO2 @ 97.5g/km)

I'll update my main vehicle and my postcard thread tomorrow.

    Denis.

Ouch! I'm sorry about that. You only replaced 2 tires, right? How bad would it be with all four?!!!
