Daox - wow. Great work. That's just 3/10 lower than my best tank, in a car that's rated 1-2 mpg lower by the EPA. You are working it like a champ!

I would LOVE to dump the truck and get a Fit or Insight, but that will have to wait a while.

How is you HCH working out for you now that you have had it a few weeks?

Good, I'm still trying to figure it out. I'm driving the same commute, but I've had to relearn how to drive it due to the different car. For my first fill the trip meter said the tank was at 62MPG, but the math from the actual fill only returned 55.6MPG. The tank was 3/4 full when I got it from the dealer so maybe the gas was crappy or old. I changed the oil, too, in case it wasn't the right grade and so I know for sure when I'll need to change it again. The car is also missing the factory belly pan, I've ordered a new one from the local Honda dealer. Oh, and the tires on the car are Bridgestones, but not the low rolling resistance kind that came with it. I'm waiting for a sale or coupon or something before I replace them (they are pretty worn and will need replaced before winter). So, if I bring the car back to factory original efficiency and I figure out the tricks for my commute I'm hoping to at least get mid 60's. My best tank ever in my other Civic was 42MPG so I'm pretty happy with this car. Just be glad I gave you the short answer to your question.

I'm gonna fill up. Gotta give you a chance. :) I pulled the tank back up to a little over 60 now, but my battery is getting flaky. I don't know if it will last the week, and it it doesn't, I will probably take a hit when it actually dies. :(

I will post something tomorrow to give you an idea where I am.

I hope I can stay there. This last tank isn't going very well. I think it will bring my average down. Just by how much is the question. It is going to be very close...

Sorry to hear that Tom. With your current average, anything over 51 mpg will give me 3rd back. I’m shooting for a 53 mpg tank. We are forecast for afternoon showers the rest of the week which might hinder me. I drove through a nasty storm last night, and a 15 minute backup due to an accident (on the other side of the highway) and still got a daily average of about 52 mpg.

Do I want to fill before Wayne and the crew arrive, or risk we run out of time and I get stuck with crap gas in NC? I understand that half a tank is plenty, but be prepared and all.

What if I start filling at 11:59 PM on the 31st and finish filling at 12:05 AM on the first. :D

Hmm... The only time I have spent more than 5 minutes actually filling the tank was on my Ram or the boat. And those tanks are 35 and 50 gallons!

    Just quick thinking...

All the fuel was used during the FE V, so it should count there. If some of the fuel was used during the FE VI time period it would go there.

    I know, I know...

For some reason I still think these things through when people are just kidding. :)

I promised. Here it is. Tank sits at 62.3 mpg at 440 miles. That would be 7.0626 gal used. Wife drove 80 miles at 43.2 mpg. That would be 1.8519 gal used. So I have been averaging 69.088 mpg since getting the car back.

I would estimate that I have another 85 miles to drive this week. If I can maintain the 70 mpg average for the rest of the tank, I will finish with 525 miles and 8.2769 gal. That will give me an average of 63.4297. We will see how close my prognostications are.

Looking at my mileage log, that will bring my average down to 65.4679. We shall se.
