28.0 would be good for like a 3% improvement. I'll have to fill it up again on the 30th and hope against hope
Ouch, I just posted my worst tank this summer of 49.7 MPG, which was enough to drop me from 10th to 11th place in division A. But I think 11th is pretty good, considering who I am competing with!
Thanks Sean for putting it into prespective. Not too long ago, I would have though 49.7 to be nearly impossible for me to accomplish!
I showed a couple fo people in my office the first page of this thread with the listing of people's MPG vs. EPA - It blew their minds. I think 1/2 the people in my office are secretly at max sidewall pressure - even our cynical book keeper came in the other day and said she beat her old MPG by 2 MPG !
Welcome to CleanMPG. The only place where 49.7 MPG in a Tercel is bad. Like Sean said most would kill for that mileage.
Ed you crack me up . You have officially been indicted. That is how you know your way ahead, You get disappointed with what many would consider having a check up for as information so good cannot be true.
I filled up this morning. It's going to be my last for this run, and I think I finished well. 430 miles, 6.277 gallons = 68.5 mpg. Best mpg tank ever!
Very impressive Andrew! I bet one of these days you will hit 70. This summer run seems to bring out the best in us. :Banane09: Ricardo, I have unreasonable expectations to push myself toward improvement. I'm just crazy like that! :cconfused:
Andrew, Incredible Tank ! Well done ! As Lamebums said a while back 'making a mockery of the EPA' Alexander
I'd say that economy run is in trouble come 9/1...42mpg is 200%epa, I've never seen gas mileage this good since wayne drove an insight . j/k. but either way when I was getting 22-24mpg, that same fuel gauge that's halfway between full and 3/4, by the time I would get to 122 miles, It would already be down to the halfway mark... Where the needle sits right now I'd usually be at 40-50 miles at 22mpg...be afraid..be VERY afraid.
Hi JusBringIt-- Just bring it. I don't have any Philly trips planned this fall. That means no corn meth or < 50 MPG tanks for me. I started off with a 46 MPG tank last time because of that ethanol ****.
I will post my last tank of the challenge tomorrow. Looks like slowhands and I are neck and neck for the "Do you live in your car" award! At least i am near the top in something!
I will be posting my last tank in the next few days and I have to say thanks. All though I'm not in the top ranks of the competition this contest has pushed me to set some new personal records. My 3 month average will be 100+mpg and I've covered over 3000+ miles. I also set a new trip record of 123.4mpg covering 19 miles from my office garage to my home gargage and should have a new tank record of around 1100+ miles. More importantly, I've made a serious effort to reduce the amount of miles I drive. I like to think hypermiling is not just about increasing your mileage but also attempting to reduce the amount of miles you drive. I no longer drive to lunch like I used to and I attempt to make as few trips as possible during the weekend. This has allowed me to get by with filling up just once a month (10.5 gallons). A special thanks to lamebums for all the effort in organizing these events - it's been great fun.
As a mod you can view the rough drafts section and the upcoming writeup, which will include a variety of awards As a hint there is something about driving less. Edit: The summer run didn't have many miles for me. But with commutes starting yesterday (Monday) I'm racking them up like a madman I already have 225 miles on this tank.
Just noticed something real quick Auston.... I think tht in your sing from sept to november run you have entered the OLD EPA numbers for Echo and not 2008 numbers.....
